POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Supply Planning is responsible for leading all aspects of Finished Goods Supply Planning for the Specialty Brands business, overseeing a team of Supply Planners supporting internal manufacturing and external co-manufacturing operations. The role is accountable for delivering customer service, inventory, and working capital objectives through effective supply planning, capacity management, and cross-functional collaboration. As the supply planning leader for the business, this position drives alignment between demand, supply, manufacturing, and business priorities while developing organizational capabilities and supporting long-term business growth.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the cost-effective management of the Supply Planning organization, including finished goods supply planning, production planning, inventory management, and co-manufacturing/co-packing planning activities. Leads and develops a team of Supply Planners to ensure execution of standardized planning processes and achievement of service, inventory, and financial targets. Responsible for developing supply plans that balance customer service, inventory levels, manufacturing constraints, and total delivered cost. Manages short-term and long-term capacity planning activities in partnership with internal manufacturing sites and external co-manufacturing partners to proactively identify and mitigate supply risks. Provides leadership and decision-making support for supply constraints, inventory management, and sourcing strategies while ensuring alignment with business objectives. Serves as the primary escalation point for critical supply issues and drives cross-functional resolution plans to support customer service, growth, innovation, and financial goals.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supply Planning Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4-5 Supply Planners responsible for planning activities across internal manufacturing facilities and external co-manufacturing partners.
  • Establish performance objectives and development plans for direct reports while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure consistent use of planning processes, tools, reporting, and best practices across the planning team.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for supply constraints, inventory risks, and customer service challenges.
Supply & Inventory Management
  • Manage and recommend decisions for balancing supply needs across all available sourcing locations (factory, co-manufacturer).
  • Ensure supply plans optimize service levels, inventory investment, and total delivered cost while maintaining alignment with business priorities.
  • Responsible for setting, reviewing, and maintaining safety stock policy by SKU to meet agreed customer service level objectives while minimizing working capital requirements.
  • Manage bad goods exposure by closely monitoring ageing inventory risks, partnering with Commercial and Finance teams to identify mitigation opportunities, and implementing preventive actions.
  • Continually assess inventory and supply planning processes and lead implementation of new planning methods, processes, tools, and system enhancements.
Capacity Planning & Manufacturing Partnership
  • Manage short- and long-term capacity planning activities across internal manufacturing sites and co-manufacturing partners.
  • Lead weekly and monthly production review meetings with Manufacturing and Co-Manufacturing partners.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Operations teams to proactively identify and mitigate supply and capacity risks.
  • Ensure alignment between supply plans, manufacturing capabilities, material availability, and customer service requirements.
  • Manage coordination with Quality Assurance teams to support effective and timely product release activities while appropriately prioritizing business needs.
Business Planning & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead frequent communication with cross-functional stakeholders regarding supply outlook, product availability, critical supply risks, recovery plans, root causes, and preventive actions.
  • Optimize, review, and improve meeting structures and governance processes to ensure appropriate alignment between Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Commercial teams.
  • Lead Monthly Business Planning meetings, Supply Reviews, and availability reviews with key business stakeholders.
Innovation & Strategic Projects
  • Support innovation and renovation projects by providing supply planning leadership, inventory strategies, capacity assessments, and product setup requirements.
  • Lead planning support for sourcing transfers, network optimization initiatives, manufacturing transitions, and strategic supply chain projects.
  • Manage communication and planning coordination across multiple supply planners and stakeholders affected by sourcing changes, capacity shifts, and business initiatives.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive Supply Chain experience, including Supply Planning, Demand Planning, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Procurement, or Logistics.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of leadership experience managing people and/or planning teams preferred.
  • Experience managing supply planning activities across both internal manufacturing and external co-manufacturing networks preferred.
  • Experience working with international markets preferred.
  • SAP APO, SAP IBP, OMP, Oracle, or similar planning system experience preferred.
  • Experience leading S&OP, Supply Review, or Integrated Business Planning processes preferred.
SKILLS:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business decisions.
  • Ability to balance customer service, inventory, capacity, and cost objectives in a dynamic supply environment.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and talent development skills with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Strong cross-functional influence and communication skills, including the ability to lead discussions and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Proficiency with supply planning systems and ERP platforms (SAP APO, SAP IBP, OMP, or equivalent) and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and driving process standardization across supply planning operations.

Salary: $103,215.60 to $151,017.00 per year
