THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join Purina Specialty Team. 
This unique role will drive the Vet business growth through the creation of targeted acquisition plans leveraging account leads, cold calling and servicing current customers. This is a key role in our Generating Demand team, focused on driving topline growth in the Vet Channel.

TRAVEL 
•    Regular Travel predominantly in the wider Lower North Island region area and 2 to 3 nights away per month
•    Travel required for Vet Clinic training sessions
•    We value face-to-face interactions with our customers, and your current unrestricted driver's license will enable you to visit them effectively. 
•    Please note that overnight travel will be required for quarterly sales meetings and clinic trainings outside of the wider Lower North Island region area. 
 
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF...
•    Ensure achievement of agreed targets/KPIs
•    Plan, create, communicate and execute Vet field activity plan
•    Responsible for the execution of the Cycle plans in stores for own assigned territory
•    Work closely with key Vet clinics, Vet groups and Nestle Purina field team to identify opportunities, analyse, plan and achieve Pro Plan growth via growing current base and through the acquisition of new Vets. 
•    Lead, plan and attend events that showcase the benefits of using Purina Prescription Diets. Leverage these events into sales opportunities.
•    Develop highly effective relationships with all key customers and key internal stakeholders.
•    Proactively manage effective general cost of doing business, identify opportunities for profit improvement and cost savings management
•    Responsible for reviewing business performance on a regular basis (monthly or bi-weekly as appropriate)
 
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL
Passionate about pets, you will have a solid background in Sales with a proven record of seeking out and securing new business within a Vet retail environment.
•    Strong commercial acumen and effective communication skills are essential.  
•    A strategic mind-set, innovative approach, and ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders will see you succeed in this role. 
•    Strong technical/nutritional and training background, with 2-3 years of experience in marketing or sales, successfully delivering on KPIs.
•    Proven record of seeking out and securing new business.
•    Strong understanding of the Vet retail environment, a Vet nurse background is desirable
•    Strong understanding of the requirements to encourage recommendation of super premium nutrition.
•    Advanced presentation experience/skills.
•    Advanced customer service skills.
•    Ability to drive channel/customer knowledge, integrated customer relationships and collaboration, effective selling, effective negotiation, effective business planning, and drive sustainable profitable growth.
•    Proactive cooperation and initiative in establishing a winning sales strategy.
