Position Summary

 

The Senior Veterinary Communications Manager (SVCM) is responsible for leading, coaching & developing Veterinary Communications Managers (VCM) in the areas of VET sales relationships including providing continuing education, technical expertise, and nutrition training.  In addition, they are responsible to provide coaching & developing of their VCMs university programs and relationships.  As a people leader, the SVCM is responsible for the VCM development plan.

 

A SVCM will provide direct technical support and expertise for VET sales and university to drive increased trial, usage, and recommendations of Purina products by veterinarians, veterinary students and veterinary staff and promote an elevation of Purina's image in the veterinary profession.  This will occur on a Region and Zone level where they will maintain their relationship and align with PVCs, Region Managers, and Zone Directors.

In addition, a SVCM will lead projects including advocacy platforms and trainings.

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop 3-5 VCMs in areas of sales support and university advocacy work providing remote and in-field work with support and assist brand director with team meetings (phone and in person).
  • Develop and lead program work such as P4P@U including reporting, Student Representative Training, and Purina Veterinary Ambassador program.
  • Educate new and existing Purina associates on nutrition and related veterinary medicine topics.
  • Provide technical nutrition information and serve as a technical consultant to Purina veterinary sales personnel.
  • Execute educational events for veterinarians and veterinary hospital staff that support sales and marketing goals for increased trial, usage and recommendation of Purina products and Purina programs.
  • Collaborate with Sales Region Managers and Zone Directors to align VCM needs, increase efficiency, and meet targeted business needs, developing insight and generating demand.
  • Develop and build ongoing expertise through targeted Key Opinion Leader and veterinary group relationships, continuing education, and self-study (ex. AAHA, corporate accounts, AAVN, ACVIM, etc…) external to university responsibilities.
  • Manage and execute the Purina Veterinary University Program in 1-3 assigned veterinary schools:
  • Provide service to Veterinary Resource Center, VET marketing and sales.
  • Provide technical expertise, education, and act as Veterinary representative to Purina departments external to VET upon request (ex. Brand, Corporate PR, Purina Institute, Strategy & Innovation).

 

Travel: This role may require 50-75% travel as business needs require.

Candidate must reside in one of the following areas:

  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • Washington, DC

Location near a major airport is preferred.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
  • 3+ years experience in the veterinary industry 
  • 2+ years of people leadership 
  • Ability to maintain state DVM license.

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $127,000 to $178,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
