We are currently looking to hire a Quality Specialist for the East and Southern Africa region to join our team in Potchefstroom, North West
Position Summary
The Quality Specialist will ensure effective and consistent implementation of Food Safety and Hygiene / GMP requirements to assure that our products are safe and are of the required quality when they reach the consumer. Manage the complete food safety programme ensuring the nutritional adequacy through product formulation as well as through processing.
A day in the life of...
- Responsible for managing the complete food safety programme, microbiological and pathogen monitoring, (including cleaning of all equipment), allergens management through raw materials, handling and cleaning practices and foreign body management,
- Chemical contamination via raw material controls, including surveys and supplier management / accreditation,
- Nutritional adequacy through product formulation as well as through processing
- Use of data for food safety improvements"
- Disseminate and explain Nestec policies, rules and guidelines to end users (e.g. Production, Engineering, QA, Supply Chain) to ensure proper interpretation, specifically in matters of Food Safety
- Inspect and audit all units in the factory including, but not limited to, production sites, warehouses, environment. Items in checklist that should be covered should include hygienic design, cleaning, rework handling, pathogen and micro monitoring, industrial services, pest prevention, etc
- Discuss audit results with heads of departments concerned and/or Factory Manager as needed
- Draw up and implement procedures relating to cleaning and hygiene and train staff.
What will make you successful
- Qualifications: University graduate or post-graduate qualification, Food technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology
- 2years experience in production
- Audit experience
- Lead auditor qualification for Food Safety systems
- Knowledge of FS Standards (e.g. ISO 22000) and Pre-requisite program requirements
