As our Employee Relations Manager, you'll play a key role in fostering a constructive employee relations environment. You'll be the go-to person for representing our company's objectives and interests in discussions and negotiations with unions and other representatives. Your expertise will be crucial in providing advice on managing ER and IR matters, supporting organizational change initiatives, and ensuring compliance with enterprise agreements, contracts, awards, policies, and legislative obligations.
A day in the life…
Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations, key responsibilities of the role include:
- Represent our company in discussions and negotiations with unions and other representatives to resolve complex IR issues.
- Provide expert advice on ER and IR matters, including contract disputes, industrial grievances, performance management, disciplinary actions, and more.
- Support and lead ER and HR projects that promote employee wellbeing and a psychologically healthy workplace. Serve as the employee wellbeing champion at the Rhodes site.
- Develop and negotiate enterprise agreements in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct IR/ER related training sessions, such as anti-discrimination and performance management.
- Stay up to date with employment laws and regulations, proactively advising management on potential impacts and necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with HR and legal teams to ensure consistent and fair application of policies and procedures.
- Deliver training programs to enhance understanding of employee and industrial relations matters.
What will make you successful
- Joining a collaborative team of Specialists, you will be a strong team player with a history of delivering results in a high pressure and dynamic environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in law or a business-related discipline with a major in HR/ER/IR, or equivalent experience in a complex ER/IR environment.
- Detailed understanding of employment and industrial laws across Australia and New Zealand.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, consulting, and negotiation skills.
- Proven experience in drafting, interpreting, and applying employment contracts, industrial agreements, and employment policies.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- The ability to travel interstate during union negotiations.
