As a Packaging Technologist in our Innovation Acceleration Team, you will deliver packaging innovation and renovation projects with our contract-manufacturing and inter-market supply partners for the Australian and New Zealand markets. 


In this role, you will work cross-functionally, particularly closely with marketing and supply chain teams, to identify and translate business requirements into packaging solutions. You will be exposed to iconic products and brands and will work with leading and novel packaging technologies and multiple manufacturing and packaging supplier partners both locally and globally. 


A day in the life…

 

Reporting to the Manager, Oceania Innovation Acceleration Team, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of packaging innovation and renovation projects for at least two of our business units, key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Develop and execute New Product Development (NPD) and renovation projects, within a cross functional team.
  • Offer technical and process advice & expertise in Packaging Technology.
  • Participate in factory trials at our Co-Manufacturing partners and evaluate results to ensure an optimised product/packaging design fit for purpose.
  • Ensure that Nestlé standards and procedures are maintained with respect to food safety, quality, regulatory, market competitiveness and business profitability.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of relevant packaging legislation and standards. 
  • Build networks with our local packaging technologists, our global R&D network, other Nestle Markets, material and machinery suppliers to keep abreast of manufacturing, packaging and product trends.
  • Actively seek opportunities for raw/pack material simplification and consumer/customer benefits through NPD and other improvement projects.
  • Use and maintain SAP for product information and packaging specifications.
  • Drive Packaging Sustainability initiatives in-line with Business priorities and Nestle’s Packaging Sustainability roadmap.


What will make you successful

 

  • Joining a collaborative team of specialists, you will be a strong team player with a drive to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Degree in Food Science, Applied Science, Engineering or related field of study.
  • 5+ years’ experience in product & or packaging development within food manufacturing or related industries.
  • Experience with project management, early risk management, and stakeholder management. Participation in Stage Gate managed new product introduction projects, timelines and project management.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and problem-solving tools.
  • Proven track record in delivering results by working with cross-functional teams.
  • Previous experience and familiarity working with SAP preferred.
