Position Summary

Nestlé Coffee Partners (NCP) is on a mission to elevate how our consumers experience coffee. The Category Development Manager – (Sam’s Club) role contributes to NCP’s success by driving sales and coffee category growth. As the category advisor, this role influences Sam’s Club category strategy utilizing coffee industry knowledge, shopper insights and business analytics. Additionally, the position identifies growth opportunities via best-in-class analytics including optimal assortment. Working cross functionally with the Seattle based team to drive results is a key success factor. Are you ready to make your impact?

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
LEADERSHIP - Setting goals for direct report(s), developing capabilities, and modeling how we work together:

  • Foster a consultative approach that helps Sam’s set category direction
  • Develop trust with the Sam’s buying team via an objective category focus and by consistently being a valued advisor that identifies growth opportunities
  • Leads direct report(s) performance management and development by facilitating training, mentoring, ongoing performance conversations
  • Contributes to building a cohesive culture and team connections across Headquarters and Field Category Development teams.
  • Represents the Category Development team with senior level internal audiences.

STRATEGY - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:

  • Develops a strategic customer relationship by fulfilling Sam’s Club advisor role 
  • Leads the creation of coffee category strategy recommendations informed by societal macro trends, category growth drivers and thought leadership.
  • Strategic direction includes Sam’s.com
  • Interprets shopper and consumer research to drive category focused solutions
  • Leads the assortment precision process to define optimal assortment and make aisle flow recommendations
  • Identifies coffee/NCP growth opportunities grounded in market trends, shopper insights and business analytics

PLANNING AND EXECUTION 

  • Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, leading execution, and measuring results
  • Works closely with the Sr. Manager, Category Development to craft annual strategic priorities and goals for the Walmart/Sam’s Category Development team
  • Works closely with sales planning and Seattle category development teams in the planning process to identify strategic opportunities
  • Support Sam’s team JBP and line review preparation for meetings with buyer, as appropriate


REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 4+ years work experience in Category Development / Category Management roles in the CPG industry
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in category, sales, marketing, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience leading others preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline
  • Experience working in Advisorship capacity with Walmart and/or Sam’s strongly preferred.
