The Category Leadership Manager (Advisor) leads in development and execution of the Customer Category Strategic Plan in collaboration with the customer, internal insights, and research resources. This position will leverage advanced technical skills and resources in cultivating advanced and predictive analytics as well as their team’s access to insights technology to unearth customer specific category specific insights that provide the necessary building blocks to cultivate the modular relay strategy. This position also leads and has ultimate ownership of the strategic thought leadership recommendations through optimized assortment for the modular relay processes, and ownership of the modular relay process.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting, Data Insights and Communication
- Primary point of contact for the customer buying team members
- Ownership of relationship with CMI (Insights) team to drive customer specific insights projects and custom and/or primary research
- Leadership in identifying actionable insights through advanced/predictive analytics and statistical modeling, related to opportunity gaps and white space projects
- Ownership of the success of Modular Relays from Strategy inception through Modular Submission
- Leading the development of the modular relay strategy deep dive
- Developing demand and store trait clustering, and assortment optimization modeling and recommendations
- Analyzing insights, data, and analytics to derive merch flow recommendations
- Leveraging insights to cultivate test store recommendations
- Presentation of Strategy deep dive to the customer
- Supporting the Template Mod generation for the DMM VP Buyer Walkthroughs
- Leadership in Planogram automation strategy and execution of full modular generation
- Coordination and participation in modular draw process, modular validation, sending status updates and coordinating modular review with the buying team
- Ensuring the accuracy of the modulars and the integrity of ensuring the relay strategy is being executed
- Generating and communicating the modular matrix information to the buying team
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Previous experience as a Walmart category advisor
- Professional experience outside of Category Management for a broader perspective is a plus
- Strong technical skills required and expertise with advanced analytics
- Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Previous experience with Walmart customer data, IRI and/or other syndicated data to help create category stories and understand the customer
Technical Skills:
- Excel, PowerPoint
- JDA Space Planning (ProSpace)
- Shiloh, or other similar RL database type tool
Preferred Technical Skills:
- CKB, POG Generator
- Nielsen/IRI
- Power BI/Tableau
- VBA, SQL or other coding languages
- Power BI Power Query or Alteryx (latter is preferred)
