Position Overview:

The Senior Customer Account Specialist serves as both an analytical lead for the broader Walmart Coffee & Beverage Sales team and an account owner for an assigned portion of the business. This role partners with sales finance, commercial development, retail, shopper marketing, supply chain, and insights teams to execute sales fundamentals, develop category-building plans, analyze performance, and deliver annual sales and commercial spend objectives while helping manage the customer relationship with Walmart.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Own sales, volume, profit, and commercial spend targets through clear customer plans and execution priorities.
  • Manage day-to-day customer relationships for assigned categories, identifying risks, opportunities, and required actions.
  • Develop customer selling stories for new items, assortment, pricing, promotion, merchandising, and 4P initiatives.
  • Build and execute Customer Category Business Plans with customer partners to deliver annual commitments.
  • Communicate account, category, forecast, and performance updates clearly across internal and customer stakeholders.
  • Lead sales forecasting for the desk and broader team, ensuring accurate inputs and clear risk and opportunity visibility.
  • Execute account planning fundamentals, including distribution tracking, promotion administration, deductions, and post-event analysis.
  • Manage commercial spend and partner with Sales Finance on reconciliation, forecast accuracy, deductions, and performance tracking.
  • Analyze customer, category, shopper, and performance data to create actionable growth recommendations.
  • Coordinate with Commercial Development, Retail Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and other partners to deliver customer commitments.
  • Coach analysts and peers by sharing account management best practices and reinforcing executional discipline.
  • Drive personal development through capability tools, career development programs, and a robust PDP process.

 

 

 

Requirements:

  • University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of related work experience preferred
  • At least 1 year of account management, customer-facing, or comparable commercial experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience in leading/owning projects on previous teams
  • Successfully delivered on KPI objectives in previous roles
  • Good working knowledge of channel of trade customer base in Grocery, Mass and New Business 
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the sales fundamentals
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, strong judgement in decision making, good problem solving skills, thinks strategically, and a customer service orientation 
  • Takes the initiative to execute with minimal supervision
  • Challenges current processes, generating innovative suggestions that improve performance even beyond own role
  • Takes immediate action to resolve issues or potential issues, ensuring stakeholders are properly communicated to about the potential impact 
  • Puts in persistent and if necessary, extra effort to accomplish goals and maintain a high level of productivity
  • Proactively identifies opportunities beyond what is expected in own role
