The Sr Category Analyst (Advisor) supports Category Managers (CM) in the development and execution of the customer strategy strategic plan. A primary responsibility of this position is to partner with the CM in the development of Strategic Category plans in collaboration with the customer, internal insights and research resources. Additionally, this position will leverage advanced technical skills in cultivating advanced analytics as well as insights technology to unearth customer specific category specific insights that assist the CM in the modular relay strategy development. This position also has ownership in the execution of the modular relay processes.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting, Data Insights and Communication: Ability to create, analyze and provide insights for customer weekly pos performance, modular pre vs post performance, Test and Learn insights, and other similar customer data derived insights, as well as being knowledgeable on the category’s business intelligence reporting portfolio for business acumen and adhoc requests.
- Ownership of leveraging and supplying insights from wide variety of insights data platforms, such as Luminate, Mastercard Test and Learn, Circana, Kantar, Mintel, and supporting CM and category buying team on related adhoc requests.
- Cultivating actionable insights through advanced analytics as well as opportunity gaps and white space project ownership.
- Driving success of Modular Relays from Strategy inception through Modular Submission
- Strategy deep dive support of the CM related to analytics, insights, assortment optimization, and ownership of assortment and cluster recommendations
- Planogram automation expertise and ownership of rules development, testing and validation of automated mods, full relay generation of mods, mod validation processes
- Modular drawing and validation during relay
- Ownership of post modular analytics and relay analytics
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Previous experience with a category advisor team, business analytics or technical / analytical role
- Professional experience outside of Category Management for a broader perspective is a plus
- Strong technical skills required and expertise with advanced analytics, statistical and predictive modeling and coding language(s) a plus
- Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Previous experience with Walmart customer data, Circana and/or other syndicated data to help create category stories and understand the customer preferred
- In the absence of the experiences above, a college degree focused in Business, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science/Data Analytics, or Information Systems, and/or full time work experience in a technical/analytical field / functional area is strongly preferred
