Position Summary
This role ensures the effective implementation of Nestlé’s Food Safety and Quality Management Systems while driving continuous improvement across the factory. It provides technical expertise to prevent and resolve quality issues, promotes strong GMP and hygiene standards, and supports teams through targeted training. The position manages risk assessments, consumer complaint analysis, and root‑cause investigations to safeguard product integrity. It also oversees quality-related change management to maintain full compliance and food‑safety protection on site.
A day in the life of a Quality Specialist
- Provide technical expertise as quality specialist to resolve internal and external quality defects by leading food safety management programs and facilitating quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure food safety management system documentation is updated and effective. Assess the Nestlé Food Safety Management System is in place, and is obtaining expected results
- Promote quality awareness across the company by delivering training for their specific areas of expertise e.g. hygiene, foreign bodies, HACCP, pest control, cleaning validation. Promote GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards at whole factory as Hygiene Champion
- Implement specific quality procedures, instruction and tools, which are directly related to their area of concern and implement Nestle quality instructions e.g.pathogen monitoring
- Ensure consumer complaints, specifically foreign body complaints, are properly evaluated and acted upon to prevent re-occurrence
- Provide Risk Assessment analysis. Manage issues with non-conforming products to ensure proper control, minimize losses and ensuring consumer expectations. Undertake root cause analyses for Quality and Food Safety stock holds, disposals and consumer complaints. Implementing robust, sustainable corrective actions which will reduce or eliminate reoccurrence
- Coordinate management changes in order to ensure no food safety-related risk introduced to site
What will make you successful?
- Graduates in scientific fields, ideally Chemistry, Materials Science, or Food Science and Technology
- Preferred: at least 6 months to 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Fluent in both English and Italian (written and spoken)
- Preferred proficiency with SAP/GLOBE systems
- Ability to interpret complex datasets and leverage insights to drive improvements
- Prior exposure to Food Safety Management Systems
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
