Minimum Educational Qualification: B.Sc. or HND in Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Mechanics, Industrial, Chemistry or Automation.

Minimum Relevant Work Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in Packaging development in FMCG Packaging development and packing operation.

Nestlé Nigeria is currently looking for a Packaging Specialist, who will manage execution of Packaging related projects and initiatives at factory level in line with corporate packaging policies in terms of quality, safety and compliance.

 

A day in the life of the Packaging Specialist:

 

New Product Development & Introduction:

  • Co-ordinate Packaging projects & trials at Factory level with focus online performance, cost efficiency on time delivery and product quality. Provide packaging input and evaluating best packaging alternatives for new products and improvements to existing products. Organise and document factory trials including machinability, shelf-life, storage handling, laboratory and transport tests for validation of new packaging and changes in specifications.

 

Nestle Continuous Excellence:

  • Identify cost improvement and source reduction opportunities and participate in DMAIC exercises to resolve packaging quality challenges.

 

Packaging Specifications:

  • Manage packaging specifications with OPT compliance.

 

Safety, Quality & Compliance:

  • Drive quality improvements in our packaging. Assist Factory QA to review packaging related on-line/off-line controls - to implement packaging monitoring plans.  Participate in supplier audits.

 

Supplier development:

  • Raise packaging material complaints with suppliers & collaborate to resolve them. Analyse existing suppliers on material quality and propose proactive actions for developmental needs.

 

People & Know How:

  • Ensure development of competencies of production Technicians & disseminate packaging best practices and knowledge at the shop floor (e.g. "One Point Lessons").

 

Packaging Material and Packaging Lines Efficiency in line with the goals of NCE Zero waste, Zero loss:

  • Support production Technicians for efficiency in packaging lines and material usage.

 

Consumer Complaints:

  • Analyse consumer complaints related to packaging, propose and implement corrective actions.

 

What Will Make You Successful?

  • B.Sc. or HND in Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Mechanics, Industrial, Chemistry or Automation.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Packaging development in FMCG Packaging development and packing operation.
  • Problem solving approach.
  • Project management.
  • Supplier & converter auditing.
