The Factory Manager for our San Antonio, Texas plant is responsible for developing and executing operational strategies for assigned plant. This person oversees the creation and execution of operational projects that fulfill sustainable improvement of key performance metrics. You'll establish and continuously improve standard operational processes to be observed across manufacturing / packaging operations at the site(s), in addition to leading operational initiatives and networking across sites.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsibility for the performance and results of plant operations, improving current products and processes, improving efficiencies, addressing manufacturing issues, and realizing overall cost savings. Dedicated to ensuring operational success of the plant versus the strategic plan (including safety, quality, sustainability, cost, productivity, and customer service) with limited financial responsibilities
- Support formulation of plant strategy and annual goals and objectives for the plant that align to the Operations direction. Responsible for direct labor planning and productivity improvements as part of annual budget process.
- Partner with the site leadership team to drive operational results to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on the Plant Scorecard
- Foster a High-Performing Organization through the creation, implementation, and improvement of Nestle Continuous Excellence systems, including Safety, Centerline, Clean-Inspect-and-Lubricate, Total Productive Maintenance, Quality Defect Elimination, etc.
- Provide coaching of plant leadership team members, floor leaders, and operating floor associates in the principles of high performing work systems and hold all levels accountable for implementation and sustainability
- Create an effective leadership team, one that has a high sense of urgency and a high level of cross-functional collaboration that drives results
- Create systems and processes that result in a high level of competence across all levels, encompassing both leadership and technical skills
- Build a culture that develops a high degree of ownership from all colleagues, an environment of trust and openness, and a culture that delivers consistently superior results
- Benchmark successful operations and incorporate learning into the operation
- Collaborate with other functions within Operations and within the company to drive an effective business
- Conduct root cause analysis and define/execute corrective actions where gaps are foreseen to correct the situation proactively and effectively. Coach or directly lead projects/ actions plan to close gaps to plan, improve process stability and/or reduce waste.
- Assess and develop talent, coach the team to work effectively, and address issues that arise to build a high performing Site Leadership Team that is aligned, energized, and has mastery across the supply chain. Ensure the Site Leadership Team is operating with a high sense of urgency and high level of cross-functional collaboration that drives results.
- Has a full financial accountability for site. Ensure budget and actual spend aligns with Operations savings and cost targets.
Qualifications
- 8 years of management experience in CPG, consumer health, or pharma industries.
- Management experience at a “facility-wide” level for a medium sized facility or for a unit within a large sized facility
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, engineering preferred
- Military experience a plus
- A substantial technical background, evidenced by academic credentials and professional experience
- Superior working knowledge of TPM, OEE and Lean and the ability to utilize these tools to create and operate a high performing organization
- Significant contribution to tactical and strategic initiatives, like capital programs and cost savings initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to handle large scale change like in a startup or turnaround situation
- Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multiple levels and functions, including Safety, Quality, Maintenance/Engineering, Finance, Inventory Control, Scheduling, Procurement, Planning and Human Resources
- Proven ability to build organizational capabilities and develop people. Provided personal, hands-on coaching of team leaders and operating floor associates to develop ownership and foster engagement. While creating an environment of trust and openness, developed, and sustained high performance team(s) that consistently delivered superior results
- Must demonstrate a good understanding of Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations (cGMP) and OSHA regulations with an appreciation for what are generally considered to be current best practices in the industry
- Advanced PC skills that encompass Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP applications required
