Position Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for providing professional support by performing and promptly communicating the essential quality tests and analyses necessary to ensure product safety and quality. Your primary duties will involve conducting comprehensive analyses of incoming materials, in-line samples, semi-finished products, and finished products to assess their adherence to our established quality standards. The successful candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of product quality.
Work Schedule: The work hours for this position are overnight, from 7pm to 7am. The work schedule will follow a rotating pattern, with 2 to 3 consecutive days at a time, including weekends. During the initial 3-month training period, the training schedule will be during the daytime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Operations: Performs Microbiological, Chemical, and/or Physical Testing of Incoming Materials, In-Line samples, Semi-finished, Finished Products, Environmental monitoring, Investigational samples. Completes cleaning and general maintenance of laboratory and work area. Performs periodic maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and equipment. Conducts internal and external analytical reporting. Monitors material and reagent inventory, orders and stocks laboratory supplies.
- Laboratory Quality Ambassador: Comprehends and follows Nestle Good Laboratory Practices, Laboratory Safety Standards, and Biosafety/Biosecurity Protocols. Completes review of laboratory data to ensure accuracy. Performs method monitoring through control charting and investigates trends. Performs analyses to support qualification / validation / verification protocols.
- Communication: Provides routine communication with Factory Operations and Internal support functions to report testing status and results.
- Safety and Environmental: Follow factory safety & environmental objectives & targets. Follow the plant safety rules, report incidents & unsafe conditions immediately. Maintain compliance with regulations and refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs. Understand the environmental aspects of the position and take action to reduce these environmental impacts by conserving paper, electricity, water etc. Will also recycle all appropriate materials (paper, plastic, food, etc.)
- Quality: Follow factory food safety, quality objectives & targets. Follow Nestle Good Manufacturing Practices, report food safety and quality issues immediately. Maintain compliance with regulations and refer to Nestle Quality Management System on all related procedures and programs. Understand the food safety and quality aspects of the position as indicated on QMS, OJT's and SOP's that apply.
- Nestle Continued Excellence: Understand and apply the principles of NCE and continuous improvement in the work area. Maintain a clean and 5S compliant work area. Engagement in in NCE practices as needed (SHO, DOR, WOR, GSTD, DMAIC, TPM).
Experience and Education Requirement:
- Required: High school diploma
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field
- Preferred: Previous experience in another laboratory or analytical experience is an asset
- Skills:
- Instrumentation: RQ Flex, FTNIR, CEM, HPLC, basic pHing, viscometer, conductivity meter and density
- Microscopy skills are a required
- Expertise in relevant laboratory analyses
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
- SAP experience is preferred
