Position Overview:

 

Implements, coordinates, and prioritizes daily production schedules. The Team Lead makes optimum use of people and equipment in order to complete required work in a safe and sanitary manner. Communicates with other departments to allow smooth coordination of production activity with other areas.  This position reports to the appropriate supervisor/department manager.  In the absence of the Team Lead, the Line Support Operator will serve as backup.

 

 

                                                   Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervises department employees regarding personnel issues such as vacation and daily time sheet review, job assignments, productivity procedures, and required paper work.

 

  • Oversees compliance of all department personnel with Company policies and procedures, GMP’s, safety, workplace rules, equipment certifications, and sanitary requirements.

 

  • Oversees training and cross-training for employees to give optimum coverage for each department’s jobs, and for department supervision while personnel are away from work. Active involvement in daily safety briefs. Will contribute to the hiring and disciplinary decisions following established Company policies.

 

  • Works with his/her peer group of Team Leaders to coordinate department activity with other plant departments to ensure production deadlines are met.

 

  • Coordinates with the Maintenance Department to cover needed preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment and machinery in supervised departments.

 

  • General support of plant production and quality assigned by plant leadership.

 

  • Attend all safety meetings, report any safety incidents/accidents and understand and follow all Company and Plant Safety policies and Procedures.

 

  • Support for the SQF 2000 System.

 

  • Trained in the Nestle Health ScienceHACCP program in order to identify critical steps and their instructions critical to effective implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.

 

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

  • Complete multiple PVC tours throughout the shift and report findings to supervisor.

 

  • Complete transition meetings at start and end of shift with outgoing and oncoming shift leads.

Interpersonal Skills:

Ability to work and communicate effectively with many types of people in a professional manner. Ability to make effective use of others to get required work completed. Must possess good “coaching” skills, providing leadership and opportunities to help employees improve themselves and be successful in their work as individuals and as part of a team. Ability to convey a positive attitude and encourage a learning atmosphere to continually improve the operation.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations manually or with a calculator.

                            

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

 

Other Skills and Ability:

Ability to operate and/or learn to operate a computer terminal in order to accurately input data to the company data base. Ability to understand and/or be trained to understand operating budgets and their preparation.
