Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all equipment performance in the plant and assists Production to enhance equipment performance to meet quality expectations, production rates, and customer needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Operates and troubleshoots related equipment as needed or assigned.
- Troubleshoots motor control circuits, drives, and PLC systems.
- Performs electronic component replacement, substitution, set-up and calibration.
- Performs routine PM’s, repairs, rebuilds and modifications on all equipment assigned.
- Answers maintenance calls in a timely fashion and assists others in troubleshooting.
- Observes equipment to make sure it is operating to OEM standard or production satisfaction.
- Performs repairs/adjustments on electrically controlled equipment as required.
- Monitors equipment performance during production start-up, changeovers, and new installs.
- Provides feedback for repairs needed during non producing shifts.
- Requests parts, maintain, and organizes, equipment spare parts aisles.
- Completes any necessary paperwork associated with repairs or calibration.
- Completes Work Orders that are assigned to them or their department.
- Performs upgrades or changes to equipment if needed.
- Reports back to maintenance shop for further assignments.
- Substitutes electrical components parts as needed or required.
- Provides coverage and or assistance as needed throughout facility to meet production schedules and or equipment needs.
- Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes.
- Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed.
- Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place.
- Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Essential Skills and experience:
Education:
- High school diploma and/or Trade school.
- 2 year technical degree in Electricity or Electronics.
Required Skills:
1 year experience in manufacturing
6+ months of electrical experience (480V, sensors, and scales)
Skills and Experience:
- Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts.
- Three years related experience and training in the following areas; Electricity, Electronics, Electric control circuits, AC & Servo drives, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as equipment manuals, schematics, and hardware manuals. Previous food manufacturing experience is helpful.
- Ability to speak, write and understand English. Ability to speak Spanish is helpful.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, formulas, and policy and procedures manuals.
- Ability to write standard information and directions into related paperwork.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to use electric test equipment and take measurements accurately.
- Experience with Microsoft and PDF applications.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of diverse individuals within the plant and corporate environments.
- Ability to effectively present information to management.
- Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.

Employee may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures that range from below zero (0) degrees Fahrenheit to over ninety (90) degrees Fahrenheit. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. While in the plant, the employee is required to utilize the required personal protective equipment.
