Position Summary

Over the last 5 years, the 800-staff of our Nestlé Research organization has published around 1000 scientific publications in peer review journals and files about 80 patents every year. Nestlé Research also collaborates with approximately 100 universities or research institutes around the world. Nestle Research is present in Asia: with hubs in Singapore and Beijing, where our teams are working with the global Nestlé community to advance innovative science-based solutions to address major nutrition challenges in Asia-Pacific.  

Our team is currently looking for a data scientist with robust analytic skill and experiences in data science and analytics in life science, nutrition and or health sciences. This position will be responsible to lead a team dedicated to analyse data from a variety sources including, clinical studies, mobile health devices and real-world data to answer specific research questions, build real-world evidence and generate scientific and consumer insights. 

A day in the life of Data Science and Analytics Lead

  • Develop and manage core data analytics capability, and a high-performance data science team
  • Oversee data science team’s training and competency development
  • Develop scalable and innovative approaches to processing and analysing data
  • Lead the development of new insights, advanced modelling techniques, and data science capabilities
  • Leverage data science tools and techniques on data sets to develop custom models and algorithms to uncover insights, trends, and patterns in the data to inform courses of action
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams, working with experts across global Nestlé Research units
  • Provide scientific support to colleagues in product development marketing, regulatory affairs
  • Prepare white papers, conference presentations, and scientific publications
  • Stay up to date with the latest data science trends, techniques, and best practices, determining how to incorporate the most suitable practices to our unit

What will make you successful

  • University degree (MSc or PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics or similar field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience using analytic software tools, statistical methodologies, and Business Intelligence on large data sets, preferably in health sciences
  • Expertise in programming with statistical analysis tools such as Python, R, SAS or related languages/environments
  • Expertise in multivariate data analyses (e.g. Random Forest, Principal Component Analysis). Also with machine learning methods: regression, classification, support vector machines, decision trees, clustering or other similar analyses. Application on nutrition and/or clinical data is a plus.
  • Understanding of data architecture and data processing patterns
  • Have passion for analytics and empirical research
  • Strategic and creative thinker with ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and analytical results to a broad audience
  • Good leadership skills
  • Fluency in Chinese is a plus
