As the direct report to the Logistics Manager, your role will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective delivery of exceptional warehousing services. Your primary responsibility will involve overseeing and optimising various aspects of the logistics operations to achieve operational excellence. By implementing effective strategies and streamlining processes, you will contribute to minimizing operational costs while maintaining the highest standards of service. Your expertise in logistics management will play a vital role in driving the success of our warehousing operations. This role is based in Smithtown.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Set target values for warehousing service and cost KPIs.
  • Continuously track KPIs and keep them close to target values.
  • Implement continuous improvement approach using tools and best practices.
  • Monitor and manage safety, health, environment, quality, and CARE regulations.
  • Manage labour in the distribution center effectively.
  • Resolve any issues that arise in DC operations.
  • Maintain flexibility in structures and processes to meet customer requirements and adapt to changes.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives and manage the budget for warehousing.
  • Negotiate contracts and establish good relationships with service providers.
  • Collaborate with distribution management and customer service to improve service and cost.
  • Communicate regularly with customers and CS to proactively manage issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure freshness and avoid bad goods.
  • Select and manage the right team, ensuring engagement and motivation.
  • Maintain building, equipment, and security.
  • Support value stream design and LEAN roll out for continuous improvement.

 

What will we need from you?

 

  • With relevant and successful operational experience in a leadership role at market/ business level in warehouse management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics operations and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in using logistics software and systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with transportation and distribution processes.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance in logistics.
  • Ability to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to adapt to changes in the industry.
