Level 3 | Location: Smithtown | 1x Full Time - Permanent

Your Opportunity

This opportunity is ideal for individuals with a scientific background who are looking to begin or advance their career in the food industry through a range of analytical tasks. It is a permanent full-time position, requiring work for 5 days a week. The role primarily involves sensory panel set up & analysis, sampling, testing, and releasing Raw & Pack Materials. Additionally, it entails communication with suppliers, handling nonconforming products, and being based in the QA department. Flexibility is also necessary to provide support in other laboratory areas and work additional shift hours as needed.

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Preparing and conducting sensory panels reporting results in SAP, and analysis of results (where required).
  • Collaborating with logistics regarding incoming Raw & Pack Materials.
  • Conducting sampling, performing analyses, and reporting results for Raw & Pack Materials.
  • Providing training to casual and production operators on relevant sampling and analyses procedures.
  • Assisting in the investigation of any out-of-specification results.
  • Managing the process for handling non-conforming raw and packaging materials, including communication with suppliers.
  • Cover for other laboratory areas as needed, including chemistry-related tasks and participating in laboratory continuous improvement initiatives.

 

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCESSFUL?

To be a suitable candidate for this role, the following qualifications and skills are desired:

  • A degree in food science or a related scientific field (Candidates currently completing their studies or those with diplomas are also encouraged to apply).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Experience with Microsoft and SAP software is highly valued).
  • The ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and consistently deliver accurate results.
  • A keen interest in working in a laboratory and factory setting.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
