POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Industrial Engineer will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role may also involve leadership responsibilities, including indirectly leading a team of engineers or production supervisors and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial engineering, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of implementing process improvements in a manufacturing environment.  

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Indirectly lead factory ME industrial engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives. 
  • Analyze and evaluate manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality. 
  • Develop and implement lean manufacturing principles and methodologies, such as Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen, to drive continuous improvement and optimize operations. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, project/process engineering, quality, and supply chain, to identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices. 
  • Conduct time studies, work measurement, and process flow analysis to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or technology integration utilizing digital tools. 
  • Design and implement production layouts, workstations, and assembly lines to maximize productivity and minimize ergonomic risks utilizing digital tools.   
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and production targets. 
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to address production issues, quality defects, and customer complaints. 
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to evaluate and implement new technologies, equipment, and materials that improve manufacturing processes and reduce costs. 
  • Monitor and analyze production data, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, track progress, and drive performance improvements. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing and industrial engineering, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. 
  • Conduct line balancing and simulations with digital systems to support project feasibility and input to detail design.   


REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL: 

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.  

 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Proven 5+ years’ experience in industrial engineering roles within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on process optimization and continuous improvement.  

 

SKILLS: 

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve operational objectives. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of implementing process improvements and driving efficiency gains. 
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and methodologies, such as Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen. 
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production systems, and quality management systems. 
  • Experience with process mapping, time studies, work measurement, and process flow analysis. 
  • Familiarity expertise with scheduling software and manufacturing simulation tools. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results. 
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing operations. 
  • Strong understanding of digital line balancing and simulation systems.
