Position Summary
To be a key project engineering partner to Marketing, Product Development, Technical Services and Manufacturing in the introduction of new I&R (Innovation and Renovation) products. May involve the relocation and optimization of the existing fixed asset base and/or the purchase of new fixed assets. May extend from the initial conceptual studies through to project closeout.
Provide excellent technical leadership to manage multiple “Innovation and Renovation” capital projects concurrently from the Idea Stage through successful Execution by determining prioritization levels, manufacturing solutions, initial costs estimate, and development of successful implementation strategies while facilitating the most cost-effective solutions
RESPONSIBILITIES
An effective and excellent communicator and demonstrate positive collaboration to all levels of Management
A trusted technical liaison between the factories and corporate resources
Propose and implement work processes, procedures
Coordinate and support other personnel to ensure the projects objectives and deliverables are clearly met
Propose and control the costs, timelines, and key performance indicators of projects
Ensure one exhibits an attitude of intolerance for unsafe situations
Ensure the highest principles of ethical conduct
Ensure all projects are sustainable and designed for the long term
Prepare the project for approval
Active interface with manufacturing plants and/or Co-Manufacturing facilities
Define, support and Coordinate activities and clearly delegates tasks and responsibilities to the plant
Assist in the final estimation of the manufacturing cost
Ensure the design is directed towards a low cost, highly efficient and flexible operation
Check the validity of all mandatory safety, environment, energy, line efficiency and performance reports in respect to engineering
Ensure when working with external engineering services the scope, deliverables, performance and milestones are clearly detailed and agreed up front
Ensure a progress report is prepared for all projects on a monthly basis
Ensure compliance with business principles especially when dealing with procuring equipment and services, and management of the ongoing contracts
Ensure the project scope is achieved within the agreed cost and timing
Ensure the operators, mechanics, electricians etc. are effectively trained and that the transfer of the equipment to the client is both smooth and efficient. This includes all the supporting documentation that will be required by the client to operate and maintain the plant
Support the operation of the process or plant until required deliverables are achieved
Manage allocation of all expenditures to clearly defined assets and the entry into theregister
Complete the project file and final report on all projects and ensure it is circulated to the key stakeholders
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Engineering Field or experience in lieu of
Minimum 7 years of significant experience and achievement in a technical field with a project engineering background
Corporate Engineering experience preferred
Project Management/Process Engineering experience within the food and dairy, cosmetic, pharmaceutical or consumer products industry preferred
Supervisory experience in managing internal and external project team members or equivalent
Strong technical, managerial and leadership skills
Plant design & construction
Equipment and construction purchasing contracts
Permitting requirements
Hygienic engineering
Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and equipment
Understanding of financial analysis and relevant business drivers
CAPEX budgeting and preparation.
Up to 25% travel for offsite projects
