The Sr Electrical Engineering Expert is responsible for assigned aspects related to electrical power distribution for the market. This may include compliance to standards, capability building, and application development according to Nestle corporate guidelines. Provides professional and expert technical support to the factories and projects to meet business objectives, product quality, and plant operation/performance. Manage the supply and distribution of electricity to ensure that it is always safe, reliable, secure, and sustainable. It covers low, medium, and high voltage installations. Responsible for some project management activities including detailed design and implementation.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Define and implement strategic direction for Electricity/Electrical Engineering. This will include assessment of the current electrical infrastructure of each factory, developing roadmaps and providing visibility to management. 
•    Develop standards, solutions, and tools necessary to meet company business objectives and targets.
•    Provides technical assistance on capital projects.  Provide electrical engineering design, specification, testing and start up assistance. Prepare investment budget and acquisition of technical equipment.
•    Reviews project electrical power requirements and factory capacity.
•    Design new electrical systems (including safety and quality aspects) and estimate implementation costs.
•    Ensure that new installations are designed with a high degree of flexibility to better enable the operations to adjust to a changing environment.
•    Ensure safe installations and operations through proper design, protection systems, procedures, and training.
•    Develop and implement maintenance and inspection plans to ensure reliability, sustainability, and security of electrical infrastructure.
•    Always ensure the reliability and technical integrity/performance of the electrical energy supply and power distribution system, including business continuity plan (BCP).
•    Initiate and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) in Electricity with the aim of achieving optimized plant performance and efficiency.
•    Facilitate the introduction and implementation of new technologies in coordination with local, market, and global corporate engineering.
•    Support the generation of equipment risk assessments and generation/execution of validation protocols as needed.
•    Responsible for the installation and technical support of Electrical systems, including data acquisition and monitoring systems.
•    Works closely with suppliers and factory personnel.
•    Liaise with the site Safety Officer on Electricity matters relating to safety of electrical equipment and personnel safe work practices, legal compliance, complaints, etc.
•    Interface with Electrical/E&A Engineers from other Nestlé entities to maintain global consistency.
•    Interface with Electrical Engineers in the industry through membership with IEEE and NFPA organizations and participate on related events/workshop and standards development.
•    Be the primary contact point for several factories in Electrical & Automation Engineering, provide coaching and coordinate action plans resolution.
 

TRAVEL:

•    Willing and able to travel throughout the United States/Canada up to 50% of the time

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
•    Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
•    Electrical Engineering Professional Registration (PE), preferred
•    In-depth knowledge of electricity in low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage installations

•    Good knowledge of power quality issues and solutions (voltage sag/swell, transients, power factor, and harmonics)  

•    Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code and other relevant electrical standards (e.g., NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, Division 26 specs, NETA, UL, IEC, etc)
•    Knowledge of automation and process control, instrumentation, industrial networks, and Industrial software applications, preferred
•    Knowledge on MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), preferred
•    Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety, hygienic engineering, preferred
•    Proven experience in electrical power distribution systems design and implementation.
•    Experience with AutoCAD or similar software
•    Experience with EasyPower software or similar software, preferred
•    Experience in managing technical teams
•    Project management certification, preferred

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

•    Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design, installation, and maintenance.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience within an automated manufacturing environment, preferably food and beverage.
