POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides ad hoc support and guidance to Product Developers for food safety aspects of the Innovation & Renovation projects as it relates to material onboarding and specification updates within the Technical Applications Group (TAG).  This person will provide technical expertise to ensure compliance to Food Safety Requirements, Regulations and product quality. This position will need to network cross-functionally within and outside Nestlé with experts in different food processing technologies and food safety systems.  For example, interactions with some Nestle suppliers and the Quality team as it relates to micro requirements will be needed to ensure alignment. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide food safety Coaching, Technical Assistance and Training to the Technical Applications Group and Product Developers as related to new material onboarding for new Product innovations and renovations and ensure supply. Includes identifying and conducting training needs, assessing skill level and developing plans to address any gaps.

 

Develops and maintains expertise by an established network of internal & external/suppliers and food safety experts; able to draw from when working with unfamiliar / new food processing technologies. Build network (internal, external/suppliers, cross functional) to find synergies and leverage experiences to drive speed and efficiency.

 

Lead or support the quality aspects of the technical knowledge transfer for material onboarding activities to build and TAG Product Developers competency.

 

Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Raw Material – HACCP, Risk Assessment and Micro specifications as per Nestle Policy.

 

Proactively meet with TAG Managers/stakeholders and other business partners to review business strategy and determine emerging food safety trends and risks.

 

Assist with the development of new training programs for Product Developers in collaboration with cross functional partners.

 

Participate in the preparation and facilitation of weekly Food Safety Meetings with Business Representatives to support Product Developers as needed and discuss capability building and ways of working for material onboarding process.

 

Identify areas of improvement through annual surveys and work with team in closing gaps.

 

Utilize the supplier portal to request and review supplier technical documentation, including Major Allergen Declaration Forms.

 

Continue to build on Food Safety to ensure that we are providing the right level of support to our businesses and TAG Product Developers.

 

Travel required – approximately 35%

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

• BS or MS degree in Food Science, Food Engineering/Technology, Chemical Engineering, Food Safety, or other applicable Technical field.

 

EXPERIENCE:

• Prefer minimum 7 years combined experience in CPG, Food Industry or Quality/Food Safety fields with at least 3 years in Quality Management. Within this there should be a minimum 3 years of either direct QA or quality intense project experience.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Must have strong and demonstrated coach & develop skills, courage and the ability to influence with integrity.

• Must have strong knowledge and understanding of food safety / HACCP, GMP’s, Allergen Controls, basic food regulations, specifications, and basic food technology.

• Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervision and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and self-initiative skills.

• Must be able to quickly learn new food processing technologies and determine critical food safety aspects alone or through consultation with internal / external experts as appropriate.

• Strong demonstrated verbal / written communications, analytical and problem-solving skills.  Must be detailed and results oriented.  Statistical analysis experience is preferred.

• Experience or understanding of hygienic design, thermal processing and auditing

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience with SAP and Trace software preferred.

• GFSI training or similar Food Safety and Quality Systems training

• PC proficiency in Windows-based applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
