POSITION SUMMARY:

The Process Control & Automation Engineer role at Nestle USA is a key position in driving the future of Automation at our factories. As part of the Corporate Engineering team, we deliver digital innovation and automation to the business as part of US market’s automation strategy. Our team also focuses on continuous improvement of our production lines to reduce losses and improve yield. The use of new technologies, like Advanced Process Control and Data Analytics, will enable this progress.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Innovate
    • Research, experiment, and deliver the actual and future trends in Advanced Process Control and MES, including new technologies in machine learning, data analytics, vision systems and robotics. 
    • Facilitate the introduction and implementation of new technologies in coordination with corporate engineering and R&D.
  • Execute
    • Execute the automation software development of projects, respecting the necessary steps and creating the documentation needed (not limited to): 
      • PLC and HMI coding and integration
      • MES system integration
      • System Simulation
    • Apply new standards working closely throughout the global Operations Technology, and Electricity and Automation networks.
    • Execute FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) at the suppliers’ facilities.
    • Execute / coordinate factory project commissioning.
    • Deliver post-project documentation and training to the factory team
  • Improve
    • Initiate and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) in automation with the aim of achieving optimized plant performance.    
      • Assess and analyze current conditions in Nestle USA factories related to the process automation and MES areas, bringing a systematic and sustainable plan to return the target facility to their basic condition.
      • Execute the improvement plan with the full participation of the Electrical and Automation team in the factory as well as other support teams such as Quality, Industrial Performance, and IT.
  • Lead market networks in Process Control to provide regular training sessions for the regional E&A community. 
  • Propose solutions to minimize use of energy and water in the production lines

 

 

TRAVEL:  25-75% throughout the United States

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably electrical and/or automation engineering/technology or equivalent experience

 

EXPERIENCE:

  •  Minimum 3 years industry experience in software development, programming, or engineering discipline Experience with one or more of the following systems – HMI, PLC, MES applications, advanced analytics, machine learning, vision systems, robotics
  • In-depth knowledge of automation software and related hardware architecture (HMIs, PLCs, etc.) 
    • PLC: Rockwell Automation, Siemens, B&R   
    • HMI: Aveva/Wonderware, Factory Talk View SE     
  • Exposure to automated data collection, databases, visualization, quality and efficiency in manufacturing, SCADA, automated decision control
  • Knowledge in Manufacturing Execution Systems is a plus.
  • Good knowledge on industrial networks, low voltage systems, and instrumentation.
  • Experience in application integration to factory floor equipment
  • Exposure to enterprise level large-scale applications
  • Knowledge on manufacturing IT, industrial networks and applications     
  • Knowledge of electricity, electrical safety, local electrical codes and standards.
