POSITION SUMMARY:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Transformational Leader to leverage their expertise, collaboration, and influencing skills to drive Nestlé industrial services initiatives successfully; dotted line responsibility for 5-10 people.  Lead the end-to-end management of industrial services (including Thermal, Refrigeration, Waste Water, Compressed Air, Hazard Gases) across Operations (TPM 7+4), Maintenance (maintenance foundations), Master Planning (Capital investment strategy), Compliance, Sustainability and People Management.  Lead industrial services resources to deliver business results focusing on zero loss and optimized operation.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Management Responsibilities:

  • Propose, drive and implement work processes, procedures and technical resources in accordance with the Engineering Policy, Key Principles and the Project Management Activity as outlined in the Nestlé Engineering Excellence (NEE) master document.
  • Coordinate personnel (IS SME’s, Engineering leadership, Project Engineers, Technicians, contractors etc.) to ensure the Industrial services objectives are satisfied.
  • Demonstrate and promote the company's values.

 

Functional Responsibilities:

The main functional responsibilities for a Senior Expert, Industrial Services are:

  • Ensure that the highest principles of ethical conduct on behalf of the community, consumer, company, and the engineering profession are adhered to and that all dealings are maintained within a competitive and fair environment and above reproach.
  • Drive, support and encourage clear and open communication between the team members and related stakeholders (Site and Market Management, PTC, CO Engineering, CT Packaging and the SBU).
  • Ensure that one exhibits an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations and never implement any change, whether directly instructed to, or under your own initiative, without first questioning its impact in relation to product safety/quality, people safety and the environment. No compromises will be tolerated.
  • Drive savings in Industrial services through improved operation, maintenance and capital improvements.
  • Ensure that the procedures for protecting Nestlé's technological and proprietary know-how are in place and actively being implemented.

 

People Development and coaching (20%) 

  • Coach and develop expertise at the Factory IS Department level (IS Managers, Supervisors and Techs) for continuous support and improvement of the Factory utility operation. Monthly Operational Review participation to provide IS support as needed
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) expertise to project teams (Factory and CPMO) with ammonia/refrigeration design, boiler / thermal design, compressed air systems, and/or waste water system design. 
  • Participate in professional / IS industry activities as required. Review industry best practices and evaluate application and benefits in the IS area. Obtain Nestlé and external IS certifications as needed. 
  • Ensures knowledge and standards development in your technical areas of expertise, coordinating with Experts / Specialists (within and outside Nestlé) in line with safety, product quality and operations objectives.

 

Operational performance / cost (20%)

  • Be accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the industrial services to meet the operation’s demand. This includes guidance of the IS departments, providing direction, and developing their capability and performance. IS operation includes ensuring services are provided in the right quantity and quality, reliably and efficiently, minimizing cost and environmental impact. 

 

Compliance / Safety (reduction in audit findings, safety behaviors) (20%)

  • Compliance with all federal, state, local and internal Nestlé requirements from design through operation and maintenance of the IS plant. Ensure the efficient operation of all utility systems minimizing the use of natural resources, energy, and the impact on the environment. Drive resource conservation and awareness within the facility in alignment with Nestlé.

 

Maintenance (15%)

  • Implement Nestlé Maintenance systems to deliver high reliability in Industrial services at optimal cost. Fully embrace predictive maintenance systems and minimize dependance on outside services.

 

Project focus and deliverables (SME support for factory projects) (15%)

  • Provide Engineering design and review for capital projects or Zone standards including detailed phases of the engineering work and field support. Requires coordination of work by outside consultants and equipment suppliers, and an understanding of principles and practices to perform engineering functions. Requires strong communications skills and ability to perform well on teams. 
  • Focus on Automation to drive consistence operation and drive process mastership.
  • Produce, verify or manage IS engineering deliverables for projects of all sizes: Scopes of Work (SOW's), Requests for Quote or Proposal (RFP/RFQ’s), IS construction packages (IS layouts and schematics, etc.), Equipment Specifications and Procurement, and FAT/Commissioning/Startup Support

 

Sustainability (energy and water reduction) (10%)

Develop and execute sustainability projects focused on Reduce, Rethink, Replace methodology to help achieve Net Zero goals.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering field. (Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar).

 

EXPERIENCE:
•    Minimum 20 years of experience

 

SKILLS:
•    Strong technical, managerial and leadership skills.

•    Deep engineering knowledge including 4-5 utility areas (thermal, ammonia, WWT, sustainability, project, and compliance).

•    Knowledge of RFP package assembly for external contractors / consultants.

•    SME level guidance for project teams.

•    In depth understanding of cross-functional impact to work.

•    Preferred firsthand knowledge of factory operations including past factory experience.

 

Travel :

Ranges from 50 to 70%
