Key Responsibilities:
- Represent Quality & Food Safety on specified development projects. Execute Quality and Food Safety Project Deliverables. Ensure quality, food safety and compliance assessments are conducted correctly prior to project industrialization.
- Assess food safety for culinary (frozen & chilled) products, ingredients and processes, including designing and overseeing scientific studies (shelf life, challenge studies, predictive modeling, method development), utilizing proper design of experiments principles.
- Author and support continual implementation and training of relevant Quality & Food Safety standards and guidelines, as determined by B-Food and Nestle Professional SBU. This may include but is not limited to reference Manufacturing Monitoring Scheme (rMMS) and model Quality Monitoring Schemes (mQMS).
- Provide expertise and category deliverables on quality and food safety topics including foreign body, allergen, and chemical contaminants.
- Conduct Technical Acceptance food safety evaluations of sensitive products on behalf of B-Food or Nestle Professional SBU, leveraging a digital system.
- Support relevant markets with food safety expertise through Technical Assistance.
- Support and lead (as appropriate) projects to support digital ways of working within Quality and Food Safety.
- Provide expertise and support for the Site Quality and Food Safety team for site compliance, internal audits, and the food safety team (as needed).
- Quality and Food Safety Deliverables for each project to achieve First Time Right
- Delivery of accurate Scientific Studies
- Delivery of standards and guidelines
- Deliverables as requested and as part of B-Food Category working groups, operational master plan, etc.
- Delivery of Technical Acceptance Food safety evaluation
- Technical assistance provided with report
- Audit completion and other site support as requested
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Food Science or relevant field. Relevant Graduate degree preferred. Must be able to apply scientific & technical knowledge to product and process safety.
- FSSC Lead Auditor Certification
- HACCP Certification
- FSMA PCQI Certification
- Available to travel approximately 10 - 20%.
Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food industry manufacturing or research and development (ideally having exposure to product development activities and frozen and chilled food manufacturing facilities, including USDA and FDA).
- Experience with chemical contaminants, allergen management and foreign body management is desirable.
- Experience with rMMS/mQMS and inspection plans is desirable.
- Quality Management Systems experience is desirable (implementation & auditing ISO 22000/ISO 9001).
- Provide assistance and training other employees despite this role having no direct reports.
- Able to communicate efficiently in writing and via presentation. Influence/convince others to embrace quality/safety systems. Must speak credibly to technical & non-technical people.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong coaching and training skills (to technical and non-technical people).
- Inter-personal skills. Must be able to work as a member of a team.
- Project & Process Management Skills: Organizational, planning and execution skills. Delivering results according to plan.
