As an Associate Sourcing Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with state statute reporting requirements related to Deposit Return Systems (DRS), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), State Post Consumer Responsibility (PCR), and other mandatory packaging and recycling laws. You will identify and implement cost improvement projects with a strong focus on maintaining effective fraud prevention checks through data analysis and KPI monitoring. Your contributions will support our broader sustainability initiatives aimed at enhancing packaging diversion and recyclability.

 

Job Duties/Deliverables:

Vendor Management & Site Visits

  • Serve as the primary contact for recycling and scrap vendors, managing contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with Nestlé standards.
  • Lead sustainability vendor onboarding, performance reviews, and assessments to maintain high-quality service levels.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies prior to posting and payment, ensuring adherence to vendor payment terms.
  • Conduct onsite audits and maintain relationships with recycling vendors, while also visiting major grocery chains to assess the conditions of bottle redemption areas and RVM machines.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Analyze, process, and rationalize multiple BRO vendor invoices weekly, ensuring a formal month-end handoff to finance for state compliance and reporting.
  • Maintain and update the "Deposit Tracker," an Excel tool used for tracking invoice processing and state reporting.
  • Support the monthly scrap recovery process by correlating scrap volumes with container redemption rates and billed units, identifying potential fraud as needed.

Financial Oversight

  • Analyze, process, and rationalize multiple BRO vendor invoices weekly, ensuring a formal month-end handoff to finance for state compliance and reporting.
  • Maintain and update the "Deposit Tracker," an Excel tool used for tracking invoice processing and state reporting.
  • Support the monthly scrap recovery and reporting process by correlating scrap volumes with container redemption rates and billed units, identifying potential fraud as needed.
  • Support the annual spend forecast and PO creation process for vendor invoices, including parked and blocked for resolution.

Critical Experiences/Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, associate/technical education, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years sourcing, purchasing and/or material management, technical/manufacturing experience and/or or equivalent experience required. Internal Development Trainee candidates on second and third rotations will also be considered.
  • SAP experience highly preferred. 
  • Ariba and I-Nexus experience preferred.
  • Required proficiency in Microsoft Suite products, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Qualifications/Certifications: 

  • Proficient understanding in material management, and recycling solutions with a curiosity to help evolve our packaging to support our Best Planet passion.
  • General negotiation skills for contract agreements.
  • Ability to interface, influence, and collaborate within the organization at various levels.
  • Candidate must be quick at study, proven ability to adapt to change, ability to work across boundaries and borders, strong decision making.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills in environmental, market, and vendor analysis.
  • Courage to hold suppliers and vendors accountable to set of expectations and standards.
