Transportation Performance Manager

Transportation Performance Manager

The Transportation Performance Manager is responsible for carrier performance.  They will work collaboratively across Nestle and the carrier to identify root cause and inefficiencies.  This role will initiate, lead and support improvement projects focused on Transportation performance metrics.  Strong collaboration required with Procurement, T-Hub Operations, Dedicated Capacity Specialists, Transportation SHE, Business Relationship Partners and Transportation System Manager and Facilities.

 

The Transportation Performance Manager will coordinate collective capabilities in areas of tours, network optimization, payload, mode, etc.  They will also support the RFP negotiation process and carrier development.   

 

This role will lead all modes of Transportation to include FTL, LTL, IM, Parcel, Dedicated and Yard Spotting  vendors to optimize efficiency, service and cost to support Nestle transportation requirements.  They will be responsible for supporting development of mode strategy with the Business Relationship Partners and Procurement Team. 

 

 

Operations: 

  • Manage dedicated carrier operations to ensure optimization and service expectations are met.
  • Responsible for relationship with key carriers and performance.
  • Responsible for facility spotting operations service, safety, cost and processes.
  • Collaborates with Procurement on negotiations and contract discussions in compliance with Nestle standards.
  • Works cross-functionally to identify opportunities. 
  • Initiates and leads projects that drive improvement within the network. 
  • Helps resolve related service, cost, rates and freight payment issues.
  • Coordinate and align with T-Hub Lead to ensure capacities are being met; that route guides and commitments are being followed; and expectation are discussed, evaluated and resolved.
  • 25-30% Travel Required

 

 

Administration:

  • Provide options and trade-off on modes.
  • Partner with carriers to develop and execute operational reviews. (Daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly.) 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and collaboratively work to implement solutions.
  • Provide facility/lane support, working closely with the T-Hub operation. 
  • Provide follow-up with carriers or internal groups as needed to ensure their decisions are being executed properly.

 

Safety and Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of market and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure transportation vendors are following Nestlé’s Common Access Policy.
  • Partner with vendors to share best practices and learning across the network.
  • Partner both internally and externally to develop and implement sustainability projects. 

 

 

  • Bachelors Degree required 
  • 5 years of proven operational transportation required. 
  • Logistics/Supply Chain experience a plus.
  • Proven experience in relationship building, facilitation, implementation skills and influence.
  • Proven financial and operational oversight skills in both centralized and decentralized environment.
