Job Purpose: 

The US Retirement Manager (Pensions) role is responsible for leadership direction and management of the overall strategy, design, compliance, plan communications, service provider relations and overall administration of the Nestlé in the U.S. qualified and non-qualified defined benefit plans, as well as leadership of the Pension team. The Manager will serve as a defined benefit plan subject matter expert for both internal and external resources. Further, the US Retirement Manager will work with vendors and service providers, oversee administration and compliance projects, and ensure appropriate operating controls and oversight are in place. A candidate in this role must possess skills in project management and oversight, as well as defined benefit plan expertise. This position works a hybrid-based schedule and this role will be located in Solon, Ohio (near Cleveland).
 
Responsibilities: 

Strategy, Design & Communications 

•    Leads Pension team to include managing and developing staff, managing workloads, setting priorities and establishing projects. 
•    Manages and designs the long term strategy and establishes pension plan design and priorities to ensure efficient programs are aligned with key business objectives, which meet both employer and employee needs.
•    Collaborates with other members of Retirement Leadership Team, internal business partners, OpCo’s, ERISA counsel and service providers to evaluate, adjust and ensure cost effective operation of plans meet established priorities and employer and employee needs.
•    Leads and coordinates the communication strategy/design and develops and implements plan communication efforts, employee tools and portals, and education programs for employees ensuring an accurate and robust employee experience (both legally required and event driven) as well as appropriate internal stakeholder management.
•    Partners with Labor Relations to analyze, develop and deliver plan design proposals and associated costs for labor contract discussions.
•    Directs the M&A/Divestiture activities for pension plans through partnership with internal business partners, ERISA counsel and service providers by ensuring development, implementation and execution of plan changes and system conversions are aligned with contract interpretation. 

Administration of Benefits & Compliance

•    Monitor and oversee activities of third-party administrators, auditors, consultants and other vendors, including review of benefit calculations, claims and QDRO qualification, oversight of data matters (missing participants, eligibility, etc.), oversight of vendor payment set-up, etc.
•    Ensures compliance with various government regulations (ERISA, IRS, DOL, PBGC) and handles plan documents, plan audits, operational reviews, compliance testing and filing submissions; coordinates dissemination of required worksite/participant communications (SAR, SMM, SPD).
•    Serves as a pension plan subject matter authority for plan solutions, legal and audit inquires, participant issues and appeals.
•    Collaborates with legal counsel and service providers to ensure accurate interpretation and execution of plan provisions and to build and maintain plan documents as plan design changes.
•    Collaborates with finance and RINA to ensure accurate trust/plan accounting.   
•    Develop audits, ensure appropriate controls are in place and address any issues identified.  
•    Work with vendor to understand non-discrimination testing and corrections.
•    Ensure process documentation reflects accurate operations to be used for vendor oversight and   team training.
•    Support fiduciary committees as necessary.

Vendor Relations

•    Handles service provider relationships and supervises contractual obligations and SLA performance results, leads routine vendor performance meetings, participates in vendor selection (RFP/RFI), and handles any resulting integration processes.
•    Leads vendor contract discussions and renewal processes, on behalf of Nestlé as Plan Sponsor, for all Pension Plan related agreements. 

Other Duties As Assigned

•    HR projects, initiatives and other duties as assigned including providing support to other areas of Total Rewards as needed.

Requirements: 

•    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources and/or in a related field required; Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 
•    5+ years of professional experience working with a defined benefit or retirement plan within a large, multi-functional organization with multiple plans.
•    4+ years of demonstrated Supervisory or Management experience leading a team. 
•    Must possess an advanced understanding and demonstrated knowledge of ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations relating to qualified and non-qualified defined benefit plans and trust accounting.
•    Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint) required. 
•    Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, presentation, teamwork and stakeholder management skills. 
•    Must be results-focused, detail-oriented, agile and must have strong analytical skills with the ability to translate plan data and industry trends into impactful recommendations. 
•    Must be able to demonstrate a high level of integrity and be able to manage confidential information. 
•    Willing and bale to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision. 
•    Willing and able to travel up to 5% based on the needs of the team and the business.
