Position Summary
Our Nestlé Development Center (NDC) in St. Joseph, MO is home to dogs and cats who help us learn, research, and better understand the well-being of pets and promote the human animal bond. When you join us, you'll work to ensure our pets have the best quality of care while participating in cutting edge pet food research. Research that contributes to innovative, first to market dietary solutions as well as trusted all life stage pet food. Our center is located near the metropolitan area of Kansas City, within 30 minutes of the Kansas City International airport. St. Joseph is a tight-knit, rural community packed with character, still within commuting distance to the city thus, providing many residential opportunities.
As an Animal Care Supervisor, you’ll accomplish department objectives by managing staff and planning and evaluating department activities. Come prepared to manage and perform all activities in the assigned areas to oversee care of the pets and the planning, organizing, and execution of the palatability trials for the facility under minimal supervision. Together, you and your team will participate in the daily operation of the kennel facility, conduction of trials and care of pets assigned to the area.
- Maintain staff through employee selection, orientation, and training
- Accomplish results through effective communication of job expectations, continuous performance monitoring and evaluation, coaching and counseling, and enforcement of systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
- Establish goals by gathering relevant information, analyzing trends and options, making informed decisions, defining clear objectives, and evaluating outcomes
- Oversee equipment and resource allocation, ensuring proper functioning and maintenance
- Manage the care and welfare of pets in the facility, including exercise, socialization, and grooming
- Ensure compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Ensure accurate data collection and reporting for palatability trials
- Promote safety in the work area and ensure appropriate accountability and resource allocation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 8+ years of professional experience with animal handling/husbandry and/or regular care of animal
- 1+ years of experience in an animal research environment leading projects or teams
Other
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science/Zoology or related field is preferred
- 1+ years of experience working in a Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) environment is preferred
The approximate pay range for this position is $67,000.00 to $101,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position. Nestlé offers performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package, which includes a 401k with Company match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of other benefits.
