Position Summary

 

Our Nestlé Development Center (NDC) in St. Joseph, MO is home to dogs and cats who help us learn, research, and better understand the well-being of pets and promote the human animal bond. When you join us, you'll work to ensure our pets have the best quality of care while participating in cutting edge pet food research. Research that contributes to innovative, first to market dietary solutions as well as trusted all life stage pet food. Our center is located near the metropolitan area of Kansas City, within 30 minutes of the Kansas City International airport. St. Joseph is a tight-knit, rural community packed with character, still within commuting distance to the city thus, providing many residential opportunities.

 

As an Associate Technician, Animal Care, you’ll be responsible for organizing and performing the necessary work related to the care, palatability, or nutritional testing of the pets under general supervision.

  • Knowledge of and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and the Nestlé Purina R&D Petcare Manual

  • Adherence to Nestlé Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

  • Accurately and reliably record data as outlined by the requesting project scientists.

  • Collect and process samples for standard and non-standard nutrition tests.

  • Obtain animal body weights and Body Condition Scoring (BCS)

  • Provide care including daily feedings of the pets and basic grooming

  • Report to the veterinary staff sick or unusual behavior observed in the pets
     

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED)

  • 1+ years of professional animal handling/husbandry and/or regular care of animals

 

Other

  •  Bachelors degree in Animal Science/Zoology or related field is preferred

The approximate pay range for this position is $38,000.00 to $59,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position. Nestlé offers performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package, which includes a 401k with Company match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of other benefits.
