Associate Technician Pet Waste Management

Position Summary

We’re working on innovative foods and formulas that rival healthcare, pharma, human food, and tech companies around the world—foods and formulas that can extend the lives and cognitive function in maturing dogs and cats. We’re developing ways to improve the vision of cats and minimize pet allergies through quality nutrition. We were the first ever to extrude dry dog food and we’re backed by a lengthy list of patents—a portfolio of industry firsts.

 

Over 500 scientists make everything we think about come to life. We’re nutritionists, chemists, immunologists, microbiologists, veterinarians, and the alike. But what we do stretches far beyond our titles. It’s a dare we accepted from the very beginning – the dare to ‘Stand Taller’.

 

As an Associate Technician Pet Waste Management, you’ll be responsible for organizing and performing the pet waste management studies necessary for our next innovation.

 

  • Knowledge of and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and all procedures and protocols in the Nestlé Purina R&D Petcare Manual
  • Adherence to Nestlé Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Perform pet waste management trials according to the protocol submitted in the request
  • Clean, feed, groom cats
  • Collect and process pet waste (urine and feces)
  • Reliably and accurately record data as outlined by the requesting project scientist
  • Obtain animal body weights as required
  • Provide socialization programs for pets
  • Report to the veterinarian sick or unusual behavior observed in the pets
  • Report to the Manager any broken or damaged equipment, item or physical area
  • Perform all necessary cleaning and sanitation duties
  • Maintain a safe, clean and sanitary work environment
  • Organize incoming material for trials
  • Assist with minor vet procedures (e.g. blood or urine collection, vaccinations, etc.)

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science/Zoology or related field OR High School Diploma (or GED) and minimum 2 years of animal handling experience required
  • Advanced training or experience in animal science, veterinary technology, or animal handling, grooming, or behavior preferred
