Position Summary
Our Nestlé Development Center (NDC) in St. Joseph, MO is home to dogs and cats who help us learn and better understand the well-being of pets and promote the human animal bond. When you join us, you'll work to ensure our pets have the best quality of care while participating in cutting edge pet food research. Research that contributes to innovative, first to market dietary solutions as well as trusted all life stage pet food. Our center is located near the metropolitan area of Kansas City, within 30 minutes of the Kansas City International airport. St. Joseph is a tight-knit, rural community packed with character, still within commuting distance to the city thus, providing many residential opportunities.
As a Laboratory Supervisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in the development, validation, and execution of a diverse array of chemical and biochemical assays and procedures. Your contribution will be essential in supporting innovation projects through the analysis of physiological samples and finished products. In this capacity, you will lead and mentor a team of laboratory staff, fostering effective performance and professional growth.
- Coach and support your team by leading research and development projects, aiding in data interpretation, and ensuring meticulous documentation and project records are maintained
- Develop new biochemical methodologies to meet the analytical requirements of Nestlé Purina NDC
- Prepare and submit validation files to the Nestlé Research Center-Quality for the formulation of laboratory Instructions
- Conduct validation studies for both new and existing analytical methodologies
- Assess and evaluate new technologies and methods for potential integration at Nestlé Purina NDC
- Communicate findings effectively through engaging oral presentations, comprehensive written technical documentation, and detailed R&D reports
- Develop, review, and uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Technical Instructions pertinent to analytical processes
- Collaborate across various Applied Science Groups within R&D, Regional Laboratories, and Operating Companies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field
- 5+ years of overall professional experience executing chemical and biochemical assays including gas and/or liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS, LCMS)
- 3+ years of experience in direct people leadership or supervision specifically within a laboratory capacity
Other
- 2+ years of experience working with biological (stool, urine, blood, saliva, etc.), raw ingredient and/or finished product samples is preferred
The approximate pay range for this position is $73,000.00 to $108,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
