Position Summary

As an Associate Technician for PetCare, you’ll be responsible for organizing and performing the necessary work related to the care of the pets and palatability or nutritional testing under general supervision.
 

  • Observe to compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and all procedures and protocols in the Nestlé Purina R&D PetCare Manual
  • Adhere to Nestlé Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Assign rooms in data management system and process palatability/nutrition tests
  • Perform nutritional, palatability or behavior tests according to the protocol submitted in the request
  • Accurately and reliably record data as outlined by the requesting project scientist
  • Organize incoming food for tests
  • Perform grooming as necessary
  • Obtain animal body weights/body condition scoring (BCS) as required
  • Provide socialization programs for pets
  • Assist with care for and monitor growth of puppies or kittens as needed
  • Report to the veterinary staff sick or unusual behavior observed in the pets, any broken or damaged equipment, items, or physical area, and perform minor troubleshooting of facility equipment
  • Perform all necessary cleaning and sanitation duties to maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment
  • Assist with minor veterinary procedures (e.g., exams) and with breeding of pets as needed
  • Practice safety in the work area


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science/Zoology/Related field or a High School Diploma (or GED) with 2+ years of animal handling experience
  • 1+ years of training or experience in animal science, veterinary technology, or animal handling, grooming, or behavior
