Position Summary
For thirty years, Nestlé Purina has been proud to call St. Joseph, MO home to two facilities, a wet pet food factory and our Product Technology Center (PTC) dedicated to research and development. The PTC is home to dogs and cats who help us learn, research, and better understand the well-being of pets all while enjoying the best quality of life. Located an hour north of Kansas City, the community of 77,000 people is packed with character and a rich history– just like Nestlé Purina is. As a Pilot Plant Trainee, you'll be responsible for assisting with, organizing, and performing Pilot Plant trials with training and guidance from Pilot Plant Technicians and Project Leaders. Every day brings a new challenge – preparing new formulas, set-up, and operation of food-processing equipment all while completing trials in a safe, clean work environment. You’ll gain the skills necessary in this developmental position to grow as a Pilot Plant Technician.
• Maintain equipent in good sanitary and working condition
• Organize and record data as outlined in the pilot plant request
• Prepare summaries of trial results with recommendations for processing/product improvements based on observations
• Working skills and knowledge of equipment and unit operations in the pilot plant
• Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, Good Laboratory and Good Manufacturing Practices (GLP & GMP)
• Provide hands on support to Project Leaders, Pilot Plant Team Members, and others in pilot plant with preparation, execution, follow up, review and process improvement with trial work
• Light mechanical repair/plumbing as required
• Reviews/Updates standard operating procedures
Requirements
• High school diploma (or GED)
• Ability to become a licensed forklift operator

• Working knowledge of factory pet food/food processing equipment and operations is preferred
