Engineering Design Engineer (Remote)

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Engineering Design Engineer will provide leadership and support in the areas of machinery design, capability, evaluation, training, and modifications to fit divisional needs for packaging used in wet and dry pet foods and Snacks (bags, cans, plastic containers, cartons, cases, pails, pouches, jugs, date coding, labeling, inserts, etc.) and assist the division in taking advantage of Nestlé’s worldwide technological know-how in packaging.  This includes technical leadership in the area of mechanical packaging technology in performing the function and protecting Corporate goodwill represented by its packages and packaging equipment.  The Mechanical Packaging Specialist is responsible for expert technical assistance in packaging processes as well as quality issues with primary emphasis in the areas of package filling/closure/conveying with focus on mechanical packaging technology, including equipment and system design selection, evaluation, and/or recommendations.  This support and direction begins with package / process concept development through manufacturing processes / facilities, in leading teams, projects, and capital investment projects for multi-production facilities in accordance with key business objectives.

 

  • Ensure continuous improvement of the production facilities through coordination of process aspects in the manufacture of finished packaging equipment with optimum quality and affordability.
  • Provide Technical Packaging support to a wide variety of internal customer groups to include Marketing, R&D, Support Center, Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, Product Services, Procurement, Production and Finance. 
  • Evaluate and recommend cost effective and capable packaging equipment solutions for existing products as well as new product innovations.
  • Work closely with TAG Technical Packaging and Procurement on container functional specifications to ensure proper machine-container interaction to achieve optimal performance of both machinery and containers.
  • Critical team member of cross-functional teams in the implementation of Manufacturing strategy and policy in the industrialization of packages and mechanical packaging processes. 
  • Assist in design and develop packaging equipment, concepts and techniques relating to package equipment systems and processes ensuring adherence to manufacturing guidelines, quality standards and budgeted costs. 
  • Collaborate with all resources in the packaging equipment system installations and startup activities. 
  • Team member in the development and industrialization/ commercialization of new packaging processes as well as major line extensions. 

 

Requirements

  • Associates degree and 1+ year experience in operations, manufacturing, packaging or engineering OR HS diploma and 5+ years' experience in operations, manufacturing, packaging or engineering.
  • 50-60% travel 

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $77,000.00 - $101,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location. Nestlé offers performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package, which includes a 401k with Company match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of other benefits.
