POSITION SUMMARY:
Our Issue & Crisis Communications team within Purina Corporate Affairs looks after our reputation and ensures we are proactively and transparently managing issues and crises that impact our business. With you on the team, we will work closely with subject matter experts, leaders and executives across the organization to assess and manage risks, create a culture of preparedness within our walls to protect our people and our business, and respond quickly, transparently, and effectively to issues related to the safety of our products and our people. We are guided by the simple principle--do the right thing for pets and the people who love them, every time. This makes our job meaningful in times of crisis when making decisions quickly is paramount.
As the Issue & Crisis Communications Lead, you’ll work to assess risk associated with external collaborations with individuals and organizations and lead efforts to mitigate and manage product- and marketing-related issues. You and your team will have continued opportunities to work cross-functionally with other communications functions within the broader Corporate Affairs group.
- Use social listening and other analytics tools to vet potential influencers and partners for risk assessment and management
- Manage marketing content, concept, and asset reviews to ensure alignment with corporate communications standards
- Support ongoing response strategies for product-related issues
- Execute strategy to combat online misinformation and disinformation about our company and brands
- Draft and update POV, key messages, and media materials on corporate issues
- Provide crisis exercise training support to team for factory network and key cross-functional groups
- Support ongoing assessment and updates to issue/crisis heat map
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, public relations, or research-related field of study
- 6 years of professional experience in communications/PR or related field, including 3+ years of Issue and Crisis Management experience
Other
- Experience using monitoring programs such as NetBase, Meltwater and Sprinklr is preferred
The approximate pay range for this position is $102,000 to $130,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
