Position Summary

As a Pilot Plant Technician, you’ll be responsible for assisting with organizing and performing pilot plant trials and associated support work under general supervision. You’ll be performing light mechanical repair/plumbing as required and be responsible for interacting with project teams and participating in project discussions. You’ll also actively participate in cross-training as needed as well as learning new skills required due to technology advances. 

 

  • Organize and prepare formulations, as per R&D requirements, and perform pilot plant trials in a safe and efficient manner
  • Set-up, operate and clean food-processing equipment
  • Maintain equipment in good sanitary and working condition
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area
  • Organize and record data as outlined in the trial request
  • Prepare summaries of trial results with recommendations for processing/product improvements based on observations
  • Working skills/knowledge of equipment and unit operations in the pilot plant
  • Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, Good Laboratory and Good Manufacturing Practices (GLP & GMP)
  • Travel as required for factory trials, factory start-ups or training
  • Practice safety in the work area
  • Reviews/Updates SOPs and SSOPs
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

Skills:

  • Good mechanical skills or aptitude
  • Good teamwork, interpersonal, communication, organization, math and writing skills
  • Computer literacy

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (or GED)
  • Working knowledge of factory type equipment operations
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar setting (factory or pilot plant)
  • Willingness to become a licensed forklift operator
  • Ability to stand, push, pull, kneel, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the day
