Position Summary

Our New Business Models team consists of pioneers and architects who create groundbreaking technologies and product innovations; from introducing the extrusion process and reinventing litter, to tapping into the power of probiotics and rethinking specialized nutrition. With a digital ecosystem that includes high growth digital products like Petfinder, Petivity IoT, and Just Right personalized pet food, what state-of-the-art designs will you add to the mix?


As a Cloud Engineer on our Petfinder team, you will be responsible for technical leadership in regard to the Petfinder.com data platform. You will primarily focus on infrastructure, backend service development, and software delivery/operations within this space. This role will provide both architectural guidance as well as senior level engineering contributions. 

 

  • Contribute to and implement architectural roadmaps regarding the Petfinder data platform infrastructure
  • Develop and implement internal systems, processes, and best practices to be used by other teams designed to increase productivity
  • Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and high availability in the cloud
  • Design, implement, and operate server, storage, network, and security infrastructure
  • Design, implement and operate backend services
  • Lead explorations of new technologies and approaches through well-scoped and timeboxed proof of concept projects
  • Collaborate with product leads, business stakeholders and other engineering teams to maintain a cohesive plan
  • Participate in Agile engineering activities, including but not limited to daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Maintain a focus on operational aspects of the platform, including but not limited to metrics, monitoring, and observability
  • Ensure all platform components meet proper performance and capacity standards
  • Troubleshoot production issues and respond to after-hours escalations

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience working as an engineer in cloud based infrastructure environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform OR High School Diploma with 5+ years of experience working as an engineer in cloud based infrastructure environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform required. 
  • Experience in one or more programming languages suitable for high performance backend development required
