Position Summary

An attorney experienced in food law compliance as part of the Legal Group for Nestlé Purina Petcare Company. We are a small and flexible commercial legal team eager to partner with our clients to provide pragmatic legal advice to cross-functional teams. Day-to-day activities include advising on pet food regulatory compliance and food safety issues, reviewing, and drafting communications with federal and state regulatory bodies; reviewing advertising materials and claims substantiation; and providing legal counsel for other corporate and general business matters as needed. A successful candidate will be comfortable advising on complex regulatory issues under the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as well as local state laws and regulations. 

 

  • Advise on regulatory compliance with pet food manufacturing matters as well as quality assurance issues 
  • Counsel on communications and draft correspondence with states and federal agencies regarding pet food regulatory compliance 
  • Help research teams design clinical studies to support marketing claims 
  • Advise on advertising claims on pet food packaging and other communications

 

Requirements 

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school 
  • License to practice law in the State of Missouri or an equivalent state to be able to obtain their Missouri in-house counsel license 
  • 2+ years legal experience either with a law firm or other in-house counsel position with another company advising on FDA laws and regulations and other food law compliance matters
