Position Summary

 

We planted our roots in St. Louis home back in 1894. The Nestlé Purina Support Center manufactures, repairs, inventories and tests the equipment used to make pet products around the world, while protecting the proprietary nature of the fabrication of Nestlé Purina production equipment. The facility utilizes a modern Machine Shop, a Sheet Metal and Welding Fabrication Shop, which have allowed the site to build a sizable spare parts inventory to provide even faster service to NPPC Factories.

As a 2nd-shift Machinist C, you will set up and operate CNC Okuma horizontal and vertical milling machines. As part of this role, using basic CNC programming knowledge, you will calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut or enter commands to edit computerized machine control media. Additionally, you will select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and other accessories on machines as needed to machine parts as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece
  • Use basic CNC programming knowledge to set up and operate CNC Okuma horizontal and vertical milling machines
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust as required
  • Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specification, using measuring and inspection tools
  • Calculate and control to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve machine control media according to established procedures

    Basic Requirements (Minimum):
  • Associate Degree or vocational certificate from a two-year college or technical school
  • 2+ years of experience operating CNC machine tools
