POSITION SUMMARY

 

Together, our Research & Product Development team is driven by a shared passion for pets and people. We have the extraordinary opportunity to innovate and develop products that improve pet wellness while remaining pioneers in the industry. We take pride in representing our portfolio of industry firsts with over 500 scientists including nutritionists, chemists, immunologists, microbiologists, veterinarians, and more. As an Agricultural Services Principal Scientist, you’ll design, develop, support, and lead projects in our growing portfolio of agricultural research activities in the Americas. Collaborating across different teams, you’ll contribute on several projects with a particular emphasis on the use and application of microbiology, bioinformatics, and agronomy to develop superior products, secure supply, and improve sustainability initiatives.

 

  • Drive discoveries and innovation in existing research activities in plant, animal, and agricultural system sciences
  • Scout for, and engage with emergent genomic, bioinformatic, and digital technologies for application in the research portfolio of the Nestlé Institute of Agricultural Sciences (NIAS)
  • Stay up to date with the latest methods, trends, and developments in the field
  • Develop and facilitate new collaborative agricultural sciences-related activities to further develop a relevant portfolio of value-added research activities between NIAS and new and existing partners and stakeholders in the Americas
  • Build and maintain a strong internal network, foster relationships, and collaborate on research activities with key partners
  • Communicate scientific discoveries internally and within the scientific community
  • Act as NIAS’ single point of contact in growing new relationships and activities between the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Nestlé Research St. Louis, and Purina.

 

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in agricultural, livestock, or environmental sciences
  • 7+ year’s of experience in linking scientific progress to business opportunities and consumer value, combined with a good understanding of the role of agricultural biotechnology, bioinformatics, and agronomic practices on the resilience of agricultural production systems

 

Other

  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or French is preferred
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects, collaborating, successfully with multiple stakeholders and across multi-functional teams is preferred
  • International experience preferred
  • Experienced with the communication of scientific information to both scientific and non-scientific audiences, including publishing in peer reviewed journals and /or scientific conferences
  • Experience of working in a large organization with industry experience (agriculture, pet food, dairy, coffee, cocoa, etc.)  is preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $129,000 to $170,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position. Nestlé offers performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package, which includes a 401k with Company match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of other benefits.
