Position Summary
Administer, support, and develop Nestle Purina PetCare food safety and quality assurance programs. Ensure standards required for the production of contract manufactured and contract packaged pet food products. Use production data and customer / consumer feedback to improve product quality and customer satisfaction. Support process improvement teams to research opportunities for product and process redesign that will improve product quality in the most cost efficient manner. Support the contract manufacturer/packer audit programs to insure adherence to company quality and food safety programs and production specifications. Support product / project start-ups at contract sites to insure consistency and compliance for new product and packaging at launch.
- Establish, monitor and maintain all appropriate quality and food safety programs, procedures, testing methodologies, and test equipment to assure compliance to specifications and federal, state and local regulations for contract manufactured/packed products
- Manage the evaluation of new and existing contract manufacturing/packing facilities and coordinate, lead, and support the auditing of such facilities to assure compliance with Nestle Purina food safety and quality standards
- Coordinate and collaborate with PTC, Marketing, Technical Applications Group, Production Manufacturing, Production Engineering, and production facilities to develop and continuously evaluate product quality and cost improvements for contract manufactured/packed products
- Support training programs necessary to enhance food safety and quality assurance programs at the contract sites
- Audit and approve processing and finished product specifications for all contact manufactured and packaged products
- Participate in product design and launch to assure the attributes expected can be delivered
- Participate in product evaluations attended by PTC, Marketing, TAG, and Production Manufacturing for contract manufactured products
- Maintain technical competence through membership in professional organizations and attendance at industry related conferences and seminars
- Evaluate consumer feedback data to monitor market quality trends and manage any corrective actions needed for contract manufactured and packed products
- Participate in customer presentations related to new product lines, production, and product safety issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years’ experience working in food Quality Assurance (FDA, USDA, ISO)
- Ability 50% Travel (domestic and international)
- Proficient in statistical methods and computer programs is preferred
