Description
Provide support to the Safety Health and Environmental function within the areas of compliance for St. Louis Research and Development locations and St. Louis Pilot Plant for Nestle Purina.
The approximate hourly pay for this position is $19/hour to $20/hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
This is a summer position from May - August 2024. Specific dates will be based on the student's availability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Support continuous improvement of the Safety Health and Environmental functions with Research and Development.
2. Develop and provide safety related training programs, including OSHA required training.
3. Support compliance with Corporate Safety Policies and OSHA Regulations, including compliance with OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System.
4. Assist in analyzing equipment installation efforts and recommending safety improvements.
5. Review and development of energy control procedures to support the Lockout Tagout program.
6. Review onsite chemicals and update chemical database.
7. Participate and contribute as a member of cross-functional teams as assigned.
8. Travel as necessary
9. Practice safety in the work area
10. Additional duties as assigned
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support SHE function with all areas of the organization.
• Develop working relationships with all areas of the organization.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge):
• Working toward or have obtained a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health or similar degree
• Must have a basic working knowledge of OSHA Standards and their requirements.
• Good sense of business/technical interrelationships
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to manage multiple projects/priorities
• Good organizational skills
• Computer literacy
• Pro-active/Self-Starter
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
• Manufacturing experience within a production facility.
