Quality Assurance and Nestlé Purina Analytical Laboratories (NPAL) department is comprised of talented individuals who possess a genuine love for pets and their families. As a Senior Analytical Chemist (Inorganic), you’ll perform basic to complex routine and non-routine analytical work, design, and execute complex procedures and protocols. Working independently and with a team, you’ll oversee projects or processes involving technical support and training to personnel while continuously improving methods and processes to meet project goals
- Diagnose and resolve assay and instrumentation issues with minimal supervision, ensuring operational efficiency by conducting root cause analysis and corrective action projects
- Conduct validation of analytical equipment and methods, ensuring they are calibrated and maintained routinely
- Develop and validate new analytical methods to support projects within designated timelines
- Conduct routine analytical testing and report results for inorganic samples including sugars, heavy metals, minerals, polyphosphates, etc.
- Create training protocols, coach, and review the work of team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance
- Engage in literature searches, stay updated with publications, and participate in customer technical support activities
- Represent NPAL in internal and external meetings, influencing others regarding policies, practices, and procedures, and contributing to problem-solving and idea development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional analytical lab experience working with inorganic samples such as sugars, heavy metals, minerals, polyphosphates, etc.
- 5+ years of experience working with Ion Chromatography (IC) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) instruments
Other
- Advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field is preferred
- Experience working in a food science or food testing environment is preferred
- 1+ years of experience working in a Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory is preferred
- Must be willing to work Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
Environment includes exposure to Top 14 Allergens.
The approximate pay range for this position is $69,000.00 to $95,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
