Position Summary

 

For more than 80 years, we’ve led the charge in revolutionizing pet food production and its ability to enrich the lives of pets everywhere. By 1956, through innovative engineering, we literally reshaped pet care, introducing Dog Chow® as the first extruded dry food. We’re still at it today, with Tidy Cats®, the lightweight cat litter champion of the world and Pro Plan Bright Mind®, a breakthrough formula with enhanced botanical oils shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in aging dogs. Such leadership requires constant innovation and renovation, which is so often rooted in engineering.

As a Senior Engineer, Research & Development in the Technical Competency Unit (TCU), you’ll stretch numerous skills and lead global food manufacturing projects throughout all phases - ideation, experimental design, testing, data analysis, scale-up and implementation. The core function of this position will be to develop new technologies, improve production processes, assist with product development, and support global manufacturing.

  • Successfully plan, communicate, and track projects from concept though training and industrialization
  • Support global capital projects, including new factories, ensuring the proposed equipment aligns global standards
  • Modify/design equipment as needed for prototype testing with the Product Development team
  • Collaborate with Purina factories, providing technical support and engineering solutions to drive performance
  • Provide Packaging and Manufacturing support to a wide variety of internal customer groups


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Operations, Manufacturing, or Engineering


Other

  • Knowledge in mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems is preferred
  • Knowledge of machinery, including packaging machinery for both flexible packages and rigid containers preferred
  • Experience with manufacturing operations is preferred
  • CAD drawing skills is preferred
  • Knowledge in robotics and motion control is preferred
  • 25% of travel is required (domestic and international)
