As a Senior Mechanical Packaging Specialist, you’ll provide expert technical assistance in packaging processes as well as quality issues with a focus on mechanical packaging technology, equipment and system design selection, and evaluation. Manage the design, development, and optimization of packaging solutions for wet and dry pet food products while ensuring performance, compliance, and quality across various formats. You’ll mentor and coach junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams, significantly influencing operational targets and departmental outcomes.
- Lead the design and development of innovative packaging systems that meet operational targets, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to significant departmental results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, and production, to establish comprehensive packaging specifications that align with product formulations and branding requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend sustainable packaging materials and processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives while optimizing operational efficiencies and costs.
- Provide technical guidance and strategic support for production facility improvements, focusing on achieving high-quality standards and cost-effective solutions.
- Manage and execute multiple complex projects, establishing clear objectives, timelines, and budgets while providing mentorship to junior engineers and overseeing their work.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive packaging specifications and documentation to guarantee compliance with relevant regulatory standards and corporate policies.
*Position requires 50-60% travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical packaging engineering experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments
OR
- High School Diploma/GED
- 9+ years of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments
- Must be able to travel 50-60% of the time*
The approximate pay range for this position is $89,000.00 - $134,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
