Position Summary

 

The Senior Product Development Specialist is an individual contributor within the Technical Services group, responsible for leading the development and enhancement of innovative pet food products. This role requires the ability to work independently with limited supervision while managing complex projects and processes. You’ll identify and lead performance, waste reduction, and quality improvement projects to help us remain a leader on the shelf.

 

  • Lead the development, scale-up, and implementation of advanced technologies to enhance existing pet food products and create new offerings, ensuring significant improvements in processes and systems.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain key technical standards and training documentation for new equipment and processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational policies.
  • Integrate standards and content into training programs for factory teams, providing comprehensive training and mentorship to junior staff and production personnel.
  • Act as the Technical Service process resource and Single Point of Contact (SPOC) between Technical Service and the factory, collaborating with process specialists and unit operation owners to influence operational practices and improve performance.
  • During the design/build phase of projects, verify that new production lines comply with divisional and regulatory standards, taking ownership of entire projects or processes within the job area.
  • Oversee commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for equipment, unit operations, and systems/lines across all product families, exercising responsibility for the review of work products.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with specified parameters, utilizing prior experience and analytical skills to resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Identify and organize relevant process capability testing, coordinating acceptance testing for key equipment to ensure technical performance benchmarks are met.

 

*Approximately 50% travel required

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • 3+ years of product development (food), formulation and scale-up experience, or related

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $93,000 to $125,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
