POSITION SUMMARY:

We’re working on innovative foods and formulas that rival healthcare, pharma, human food, and tech companies worldwide—foods and formulas that can extend the lives and cognitive function in maturing dogs and cats. We were the first ever to extrude dry dog food and we’re backed by a lengthy list of patents—a portfolio of industry firsts.

Over 500 scientists make everything we think about come to life. We’re nutritionists, chemists, immunologists, microbiologists, veterinarians, and the alike. But, what we do stretches far beyond our titles. It’s a dare we accepted from the very beginning – the dare to ‘Stand Taller’.

 

As a Sensory & Product Experience Scientist you’ll be responsible for designing and integrating sensory and consumer learning methodologies for Nestlé Purina PetCare's innovation and renovation activities within the R&D environment. You’ll ensure that owners and pets’ perspectives on product features, attributes, and use are incorporated into the product experience. We’ll count on you to be digitally savvy and possess an agile mindset, creativity, and data (sensory, consumer, observational) interpretation/presentation skills.

 

  • Utilize and develop engaging experiments, trials, and observational activities that delve into the nuanced ways owners and pets interact with our products
  • Provide sensory and product experience insight as subject matter expert for assigned product categories
  • Establish cross-functional partnerships with Product Development, Quality, Marketing, Strategic Business Unit, and Innovation functions
  • Interpret data to form conclusions that translate into actionable insights
  • Coordinate test execution with external research vendors as appropriate (contract management, screener, questionnaire, test plan, product preparation protocols, etc.
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation in the context of historical organizational knowledge
  • Evaluate and apply new and existing sensory and consumer research methods to provide custom solutions to specific product development concerns

 
Requirements

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PHD Degree in sensory science, psychology, food science, user experience, or related field
  • 1+ years of professional OR academic experience in sensory or consumer research
  • 1+ years of knowledge and experience applying sensory methodology and consumer research techniques (qualitative and quantitative)
  • 1+ years of analytical and data interpretation experience

 

Other

  • 1+ years of experience moderating groups online and in person is preferred
  • 1 + years of software knowledge with Eyequestion, XLSTAT is preferred

The approximate pay range for this position is $74,165.40 to $89,495.10. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
