Position Summary

Our Corporate Public Affairs Team is central to our mission, collaborating with media and key stakeholders to effectively share Purina’s story. They are responsible for our reputation and fulfilling our commitment to St. Louis, as well as the many communities we connect with across the country. Additionally, the team manages partnerships with nonprofit organizations, coordinates and supports events within both local and extended communities, and actively engages our associates through various internal functions and programs throughout the year.

 

As a Communications & Corporate Affairs Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting Purina’s positive reputation by supporting the Community Affairs team in engaging both internal and external audiences. You will assist with community events, foster partnerships with nonprofits, and enhance associate engagement through corporate giving and volunteer initiatives. Additionally, you will create compelling content for internal communication channels and contribute to key company initiatives.

 

  • Support community events by coordinating logistics with marketing agencies, managing signage and materials, directing product donations, and recruiting associate volunteers
  • Facilitate associate engagement programs such as the Purina Donation Basket initiative and annual employee giving campaigns
  • Create and deploy community engagement surveys, volunteer records, and recruitment for events and board service
  • Support paid media efforts by partnering with local media teams to promote community events and philanthropy
  • Assist with drafting earned media messaging, press materials, and event communications
  • Manage the community affairs editorial calendar and create internal content
  • Develop, design, and deploy the weekly internal news email to 11,000+ employees
  • Create internal artwork and visual assets using Photoshop and Canva
  • Build and manage internal SharePoint sites and registration pages for major company events

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience working in a professional environment
  • 2+ years of professional experience writing in Associate Press (AP) style
  • 2+ years of professional experience utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and/or Canva
  • 1.5+ years of professional experience with strategic corporate event planning

 

Other

  • 1+ years of experience with Artificial Intelligence tools (Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to support workflows is preferred
  • 1+ years of media training and/or local media interview experience is preferred
  • Must be willing to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed

 

The approximate yearly pay range for this position is $63,000 - $87,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location. Nestlé offers performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package, which includes a 401k with Company match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of other benefits.
